This product works very well, just keep a few things in mind.
You need to understand that this device isn't going to be a "fix" to your dog's behavior, but rather it's a tool to help aid it. I say this because I have a medium sized red nose pit mix, who is 40 pounds and very muscular for her size. She's a very sweet girl, but unfortunately her animal instinct is too strong for us to be able to control her completely. I've done my best to train her and she is a very good listener, but the moment something brings out that canine nature she can fly off the rails very easily. Triggers like a dog barking or whining, all stuff that make it more difficult to control her in public. That's where this mask came into the equation. She had an appointment today at a mobile clinic to get her annual rabies vaccine and the heart worm vaccine, and I knew I was going to be fighting with her through the appointment as these events tend to be a little chaotic at times. The mask did a great job. It fit her right, and though it was restrictive enough to prevent her from barking, it wasn't too aggressive to where it would hurt her. The rubber is soft, and she can breathe very well through the shape of the mask. The straps also make it easy to adjust/tighten, and because it has a top strap, you don't have to sacrifice losing tightness to keep the eyes unrestricted. This was very important because she does have a bit of a stubbier snout, so I worried it would be digging into her eyes. Still, I felt comfortable tightening it on her for this reason to make it more difficult for her to fight it. The mask is also very light, so if they're distracted enough they'll forget about it being there. Sure enough when vaccine time came around, the mask combined with my control of her kept her on good behavior, and it greatly reduced escalation. Even as she was getting her shots and a blood sample taken, she was calm as I kept reassuring her. I just had to make sure I kept discouraging her from trying to rip it off her face, but it was giving her enough of a tough time that a couple of stern "No's" were settling things down. She wasn't able to get it off once through the event. To the lady that wrote the review accusing this mask of killing one of her pups: I am sorry you had to experience such unfortunate circumstances, however I will be blunt as a responsible dog father and tell you straight up that part of that might've been a fail on your end in controlling your pet. I can't blame the dog itself for having tendencies as I understand and explained that my dog can be the same way sometimes, but that's where it's your duty to step in and make sure YOU as the owner have full control. Either of making sure the situation was contained or planned, or of having full control and restraint of the dog beforehand. One restrictive device wasn't going to make all the difference on that, especially on a bigger, known to be aggressive dog.

Good fit and quality
I purchased a medium. I have a pitbull mix and it’s a great fit. The quality of the product is great. I purchased it so I can introduce him to the new puppy in our home. He can still lick them It gives me peace of mind, knowing that this product is sturdy enough overall a great product. My dog was not able to remove it.

Did not keep my dog from attacking my other dog.
I started a return on this item and wish i had completed it but instead we kept it and it was snug and tight and on the correct way. Well now because your item did not keep her from biting my little dog, in which she proceeded to get the muzzle off after she started the attack. I thought she killed my little boston who is almost 14. Its a wondef she is still alive but because your muzzle failed the dog had to be put down. So we lost one dog and have $1000 in saving my little dog because you claimex she couldnt bite or get out of it. Your claims were false and we r left heartbroken. Dont buy this if u have an aggressive dog it will not keep them from biting. Absolutely hurt and pissed off that i put my trust into your item. You cant being her back and u cant help my little one heal. But u should fix your claims or not sell it. You should be sued for false advertisement. The blood of two dogs are on the manufactors hands. I coild send some very disturbing pics of my little one cause she has stitches all over her but i wont upset others. Yes im pissed off and very hurt and its because the item failed to do what it claimed. Faulty crap cost me my dog and almost my other one and alot of money and has cost my little one alot of pain. FIX IT OR STOP SELLING IT ! Update $1400 and we could not save our 14 yr old. It took me this long to be able to update it has had me in bad shape. Now your product cost me 2 dogs $1,400 and my sanity because all i can see is my dog being attacked and killed in front of me.

After trying several this is the one.
I've tried several muzzles and none matched the description. This one muzzle is perfect in size for my German shepherd. Works great he is not able to bite. He is able to drink water and receive a treat. Easy to put on and take off. It works. And if your wondering my baby is Comfy with it on.

Mixed bag overall with poor sizing recommendations
I do love the actual cage of the muzzle. It is perfect for my needs. I have an 85 lbs German Shepherd. I also have miniature goats, and one is separated from the herd long-term in the main yard where I let my dog out to exercise and use the bathroom. Given the goat is healing from a massive horn surgery, I have to put a muzzle on my dog when I let him out, because they will play together, and since goats use their head to play and dogs use their mouth, it was initially leading to the goat's wound reopening when the dog would play bite the head the goat was offering up to be bitten. Unfortunately, the steel-cage muzzle I was using wasn't quite good enough. Many months went by without incident, but a week or so ago, the goat's wound was reopened again. I realized that even though my dog's teeth couldn't penetrate, the steel-cage was hard enough that the goat was able to hit it with sufficient force that it broke open the wound. Those cloth muzzles are trash for large, protective, aggressive breeds, so I hunted for a hard plastic or rubber-caged muzzle, and settled on this one. I originally ordered a large, as my dog's snout measurements were 12" x 4", and according to the sizing chart, that is a large. A large is too small beyond doubt. The front of the cage dug into my dog's nose to a comical and very uncomfortable degree. I ordered the XL, and it fits better overall, although it still touches his nose completely, and doesn't seem very comfortable for that reason. Fortunately, my dog only wears it for about 5 minutes for bathroom breaks and maybe 20 or 30 for play sessions, but he definitely is irritated by it touching his nose, which compels him to try and rub it off. Given a lot of other reviewers noted that their dogs were indeed able to pull the muzzle off, I find it a huge design flaw to make it so snug against the dog's nose, which will encourage the dog to want to try and remove it. It does have a nice gap at the bottom for the dog to drink, pant, and even take a small treat. Now to the durability. First of all, I like the cage itself. It is well-made, and a perfect balance of being unbreakable but soft enough that it won't beat you up if the dog is hyper and prone to hitting you with it (or trying to play with a goat healing from surgery lol). With his old steel-cage muzzle, you really had to be careful. If he jumped up to lick you, you'd feel like you got punched in the face. Despite the sturdiness of the cage, the straps defeat the purpose. If I needed this muzzle because my dog wanted to kill the goats, I'd absolutely return it. Fortunately, my dog will not kill the goat if it fails, so it's grudgingly an acceptable compromise in my unique situation. The straps do not inspire confidence at all, as well as how they're attached to the cage. They are thin in terms of width and thickness, and the clasp feels and looks cheaply made, and itself is small and plastic. Despite the overall sturdiness of the cage itself, the holes where the straps pass through the cage are also ridiculously thin, and would be easy to break, I'm thinking, unless this material is some super plastic. At just over $20, I'm guessing not. So it's this weird mix of a wonderful cage other than being too short and a horribly flimsy means of strapping the wonderful cage to the dog's head. So if the stakes are high in your needs for a muzzle, absolutely do not get this one. An aggressive dog bent on doing harm could probably break this muzzle given it's multiple weak points of attachment and the flimsy straps, and I can see how other people's dogs were simply sliding out of it, because the way it attaches to the head isn't ideal, either. Fortunately, the shape of a german shepherd's head makes it difficult to slide out of (if tightened to the point it's almost uncomfortable, that is!) for this breed, but other breeds could easily slide it off with their paws or dragging it against the ground or other objects if motivated to work on it for a few minutes.

Intuitive Design & fits pitty face!
This muzzle has a very intuitive design. Its super easy to figure out how to secure it on a dog. It also fit my 85lb american putt bull perfectly. He has a stout wide nose, typical of pitties. I was worried about ordering a muzzle online, when its something you really need to fit right. My pup can also take treats with it on (you have to maneuver the treat in thru the holes but it still works) & he can open his mouth & pant still while its on which is what i wanted. My pup, Taco, really doesn’t need a muzzle. But hes really skittish around new people, especially at the vet. Which makes the vet techs nervous. He isnt aggressive & they typically realize that & let me take it off. But i got sick of having to use the cloth muzzles the vets provide. They always held his mouth completely closed so he couldnt pant or take treats & his anxiety would get so much worse. It really stressed me out. I looked at tons of muzzles, custom made ones on etsy that cost +$70. I finally took a chance on this since the cost was great & im really glad i did! Taco was leash trained using a head halter, so he is comfy with me putting random headwear on him. A dog not used to that may resist but you can train them to use it by holding a treat thru the holes in the front so they have to put their face in to get the treat. I wouldnt snap it on until theyre very comfy taking a treat by putting their face in it.

Fits well
It works well. Our dog doesn't fight it. It is flexible and adjusts easily. Update: this mask is great! We've had it for a about a month and our husky uses it fine. She is not aggressive but my chihuahua and her used to get into skirmishes because my chihuahua is old and cranky. So they both have muzzles when they are irritating each other. This one allows the husky to still drink when she has it on. They dont wear them often and we wanted to make sure it was comfortable.
