Bilingual Fairy Tales in French and English: A Story Collection from Charles Perrault and James Planché Review: Great for multi-age learning, wonderfully adapted stories. - I am now 2 years deep in the journey of learning French myself and teaching it at my homeschool co-op. I've found on-the-go kindle reads to be a great fit for improving my language skills, and choosing scrolling stories and guides over social media. I decided to snag these fairy tales in French and English because I felt it would be a good choice for my co-op lessons. The children already know many of the tales in this text as the selection is a nice mix of common and unique stories. We have read them through the lens of other cultures prior, as well, which will make this next material less obscure. It was a perfect choice, as I imagine their innate knowledge of the stories will make digesting it in french that much simpler. I went through the book to ensure it's what I was looking for before planning lessons around it, and as a moderate speaker/reader, I highly suggest this to even novice students hoping to sharpen their French reading skills. The way the stories are organized makes retention and practical application possible, even for young audiences! I also found the audio files for the kindle version to be SO useful in a group and personal setting. This takes reading comprehension a bit further and enhances speaking/listening capacity without the repetitive annoyance one can find in an online language class. If you got the kindle version, again, MAKE SURE TO GET THOSE DOWNLOADS. They are available right at the front of the book, and especially if you're learning for application, is it the way to go. Books like these are really what learning a new language should be like. Fun, relatable, familiar, applicable, versatile. Looking forward to sharing these stories with my students! Review: French grand mere - Wonderful but probably needs more pictures I am hoping coloring book will help

French-English fairy tails book an enjoyable experience
This book offers tales atypical yet interesting to learn. I expected typical tales, but glad to find otherwise. I found the alternating languages format in brief paragrahs made learning quicker, and content which adults can enjoy.

Helpful resource
Helpful to have English and French next to each other for reference. Good resource when reading stories to my kids.

Nice layout and font with room for notes
As someone who has been interested in the origins of fairy tales and has also been studying French off and on, this book will help me approach my French language-learning more immersively.

NOT Kid Friendly, do not recommend
This is not “perfect for all ages” as the book claims- the first story tells of a woman who discovers her husband has the dead bodies of his past wives in a closet, “he’d slit their throats” verbatim. I know fairy tales can be dark but the level of detail is not necessary (or could have had a disclaimer for goodness’ sake) As far as the French goes, the first chapter also has a passage which in French says “they spent a whole eight days” but in English they’ve translated it to “they spent a whole week” … I know stories aren’t exact translations but I’m pretty sure a week is seven days whether you speak French or not.

Amazing book that will keep you wanting more
This was a great book and I'm glad I got it. The introduction was a beautiful way to start off and I agree with it. The artwork is very engaging for children especially and it's a great way to learn french since my family and I have just started wanting to learn recently. The audio was a great bonus because I can play it for my children while preparing a meal which helps. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn French and anyone who enjoys family time with great stories.

Perfect for Adult Beginners
I am studying French through Duolingo; it’s a wonderful vehicle to quickly learn vocabulary and simple phrases. This book “Bilingual Fairy Tales” is a wonderful, PERFECT way to improve and augment the lessons of Duolingo. The stories are well chosen and the fact that the passages are translated into English is extremely helpful and ensures one is accurate in verb tenses.

L'ouvrage est destiné à la lecture, de préférence aidée par les parents, de récits et contes bien connus. Les illustrations laissent à désirer. Le livre conviendra à des enfants de 12-13 ans ou de petits adolescents.

Loved the Charles Perrault tales growing up in France, so I bought this for my friend's 9 year old son who's learning French here in the UK. He read the whole thing in two days and kept telling me the new words he learned the next time I saw him. Glad I bought this.
