The "Basic Ayurveda Amla Bite" is loaded with sugar. The extra sugar cancels any benefit of the "amla" which does NOT taste like amla. In comparison, the amla I typically buy from Indian grocery stores (such as India Bazaar) taste way better than this amla, plus they are not loaded with sugar like this "Basic Ayurveda" brand. The problem is the so-called "ayurveda" industry is not regulated at all. The result is uneven quality and outlandish claims in the name of "ayurveda". I would definitely not recommend this brand simply due to its high sugar content and the not-amla taste.

I have tried a few of the candied versions of Amla (Indian Gooseberry) available on Amazon, and this one seemed to be the best so far by way of taste, consistency as well as pricing for this quantity. So, I will buy this again when i use up this bottle. There are numerous benefits of Amla, and it is now a big part of my daily diet. The candied version is so easy, convenient and tasty! The salted or the unsalted versions available from other sellers/brands, are either absolutely tasteless or too salty!

So these taste pretty good and the price is ok. The proof is whether the gooseberry really helps lower cholesterol and or blood sugar. That's why I am trying.. Should get the lab results soon. I haven't always remembered to eat some everyday so I'm not going to be dissatisfied. The product arrived quickly and in good, sealed condition. I would not buy amla powders because who knows what they really could be? I try to follow Dr. Greger, HNTD and eat whole plant based food so even if it has some sugar it's better than powders. Ty Ps. It's 3grams of sugar per serving but I hardly eat a whole serving. Used ' medicinally' eating 1-2 berries a day this would last about 2 months.

We eat this alma every day. The most palatable of the alma candies. Not too sweet.

I had no idea what to expect from this Basic Ayurveda Amla Bite Sweet Candy, but I'm happy to say that I like it. I'm not Indian and though I do eat a lot of Indian food and have had plenty of their sweets, I haven't actually had much Indian candy. Also, though I've eaten fresh gooseberries, it was hard for me to imagine how they would taste dried. The candy pieces themselves are irregular. Each piece is a slightly different size and shape. There's a slight fermented scent to the candy. I think the description of soft and chewy is accurate and the flavor is slightly tart and sweet. They are coated, and from the ingredient list it looks like the coating is glucose, which keeps them from clumping together. The color of the actual pieces is vastly different from the color in the photos in the listing. The actual pieces are dark and far less appealing than the almost yellow pieces in the listing. That may be because they don't have sulfides which preserve color (it says preservative free), but the listing photos should reflect what you actually receive. The jar is very well sealed. There is a safety seal on the outside connecting the lid to the jar and then a foil seal covering the top of the jar. The ingredient list on my jar is covered by a label, but luckily they have included the ingredient list in the listing. i really appreciate that. Obviously, it should be there for anyone who wants to order it, but I've often found companies don't include a complete list or even any list in the listing. The product is vegan, gluten free and does not contain any preservatives.
