Does what it says on the tin
Why did you choose this product over others?: Reviews on different sites says this is the best for wood Ease of installation: Great - but you really do need to read the instructions. First time round - left it on too long before wiping off. Lesson learned. Now I've got the hang of it - keep finding stuff to treat Durability: Seems good - had it on my garden office desk for a few months and still looks greate Quality: Lovely colour - used it on an Ikea beech desktop - looks fantastic - lovely deep colour and sheen

Fantastic product
This was fantastic. I struggled with other oil and also a ronseal product that was water based and had lost hope till finding this product. After sanding down my kitchen oak worktop and applying two coats of this oil it now looks like new. I have left it a few months before completing this comment to highlight that it is wearing very well also. I would definitely recommend this product. 👍

Good product and good finish
Used this to wax my new bare pine floors. I used one coat of colour with a coat of clear on top. It’s easy enough to put on, albeit a bit messy (wear plastic gloves!) once you get the hang of brushing it on and wiping off the excess, and the finish is good. It also seems to have good water repellency as I’ve spilt water on it when watering plants etc and another time the dehumidifier overflowed, and the water just sits on the surface and doesn’t seem to soak through the wax, which is very good news for me, as my (old) house is damp enough as it is! It’s been down for about a year now and I can’t see any deterioration in quality of the finish yet. Very pleased with this product, it’s worth the money!

Fantastic
I'll bore you, but here goes... I chose a solid beech worktop many years ago, which when came was extremely light in colour, and not the dark wood I'd chosen. Wickes told me that's how it comes and you have to apply linseed oil to darken it... and like an idiot I believed them. Many years and coats of linseed oil later... it was exactly the same. I've tried numerous other products which didn't work either and I actually varnished it a dark colour in the end, which wore off. I was going to replace it but then came across a review for the Fiddes Hard Wax Oil. I watched numerous videos etc and ended up buying the rustic oak colour. It has totally transformed my worktop, which I now love and am wishing like mad I'd found this product years ago! In a nutshell I did the first coat, left it too long to wipe off the excess so went over it with a sponge and turps. It took most of the colour back out, but left me with a blank canvas again. After drying overnight I repeated the process but wiped off the excess immediately, which was sticky and messy... so I used the sponge and turps again, but only lightly. By the third coat (which I used the sponge and turps on again because I found it the best way) it was the perfect colour. Remember to lightly sand between coats and finish with Fiddes clear Hard Wax Oil on top. The result is a beautiful rustic brown, which feels like glass to the touch and repels water. It is unbelievably good and I'm now looking around the house for my next project. As a guide I bought the 250ml and did 3 coats on about 12ft of worktop. There's still a good half left in the tin.

Good coverage and finish
Good coverage for a small tin, colour was quite dark but I was expecting it to be based on other reviews. I chose ‘American’ after checking out the colour chart on their website. Managed two coats of my worktop (about 60cm x 5m ) with some to spare. It took about 4 hours for the 1st coat to dry, have a light rub down with 180 grit and applied the 2nd coat to dry overnight. Finish is good with water bearing on the worktop. No funny odours or sticky residue.
