Understanding of physics, levers, leverage, weights and counterweights will negate the rest of the negative reviews here. If it tips, you're using it wrong. I added 6lbs of weight to the already 3lb weighted base and it functions perfectly - above and beyond that which would be expected from the negative comments. The spring & lever arm is absolutely sturdy as well and would easily handle more weight than your average tablet, even something like a Microsoft Surface Pro tablet (I have the Pro 4) but it's in a thick protective case and I don't want to remove it for this use. If you want to support a phone or standard iPad or Android tablet, absolutely can not recommend enough. Same with the "Pro" series of Microsoft Surface tablets. Just make sure the measurements check out first, you don't want to Crack a Surface screen because you underestimate how thick it is vs the reach of the screen gripper. If you want to feel that much safer with the base, the bottom is padded so you won't scratch the floor, the top is painted metal surface so adding leg weights of several pounds would be ok. Or you can get a couple sidewalk (like red) bricks and put in a small box, or anything of weight that has separation to it so you don't scratch the paint. I got it for my tablet so I don't have to have a whole big screen TV in the bedroom to watch streaming services and all I need now is some kind of small speaker bar because tablet speakers tend to suck - and these ones on my tablet are no exception! So, if you understand about weights and leverage and basic physics, I can't recommend this enough. If you don't, just get a basic tablet stand & laptop desk you can put on the bed beside you or over your legs. Never mind the junk in the pics, I'm organizing! The black rolls are my 2x 3 pound leg weights I have on the base.

This stand is great! I do a lot of reading on my tablet. Whether I'm lying in bed, or reading a page or two during commercials while watching football, this stand is there. There's a little bit of a balancing act, especially if you're using the stand to hold a tablet and have the arm stretched out a bit. That's probably going to be the case, regardless which one of these stands you get. The alternative would be to buy a stand made of steel, it'd be very heavy and very expensive. I keep a jug filled with water on the base, and I have had no issues. This stand was something like $20 and works great. 10 out 10 would buy again. ..And may do to keep one in the bedroom, and one in the livingroom!

Loving this! Love the heavy base and it was easy to install. Holds my iPad just fine. I didn't weigh down the base because I didn't need to, it slipped under my side table. It's adjustable to anywhere I want. Definitely helps when I lay in bed to read at night, not wobbly. Makes reading comfortable!

The stand is super flexible, height/angle can be adjusted easily and the device mount itself swivels. It's all surprisingly sturdy so once adjusted it doesn't move at all. It's light enough that it can easily be moved but the base is fairly heavy so no matter how it's adjusted it won't tip over. It works for both the Paperwhite and the Scribe. I wouldn't mind if the grip wouldn't be as strong or can be adjusted as for the Scribe it needs to be opened almost all the way and the resistance is quite high. Not really an issue as it's all padded so it doesn't scratch or damage the device. If you get this for a Kindle, do yourself a favor and get a remote as well. Match made in heaven.

Love it! Works great! Use it since I have no strength in my hands/arms. Holds my iPad with case perfectly! Stays in place. Where and how I want it. No issues with the base AT ALL. Although I did decide to put some weight on it just in case I did get “rough” with it…

Adjustability doesn’t last. The part that holds the device falls off when moved. I was lucky I caught my iPad before it hit the ground.

Wow, it's one of the best things I've ever had! I love it; I can move it around all the time—living room, dining room, bedroom—it's super practical.

Really sturdy and great if you get wrist pain from holding a kindle or switch for too long. I use mine for reading on my kindle paperwhite and playing the switch in bed. It's so easy to move to a new position but not flimsy. I wish I had bought this sooner instead of struggling for so long :)
