Sturdy, durable plastic masher. I don't use this one for food - I use it for washing my dog's bedsheets. Yes, I know it sounds weird, but when washing a small microfiber sheet it makes no sense to use the washing machine [and I don't really want to put dog wee-wee sheets in the machine]. So into a bucket of soapy hot water they go, and the masher becomes the agitator instead of my hands. This one works perfectly. Cuisinart probably never thought their product would be used this way....but necessity is the mother of invention, right?! This one does exactly what I needed it to do.

I've used it several times to mash down and knead grated cabbage for sauerkraut. My last one was a dollar store variety one which snapped on my last batch. This one has done the job nicely though I'm taking more care too. I preferred a nylon type that would be less likely to scratch non-stick pots though I haven't tried to use it one yet. The handle is about 11" long. The mashing part is 3 3/4" x 3 1/8" and has 16 holes to do the mashing. It weighs about 4 oz if that is of any interest.

The Cuisinart masher is made of all hard plastic and is very comfortable to hold and use. The mashing part is made differently than other mashers ive had and does a great job of making potatoes. I’ve also used it to cut butter into flour

So good to finally find a quality masher than won’t ruin pans with teflon coating. Very well made.
