Great but simple ports. I have some Yamaha 6940s that just sounded really muddy in their sealed cabinets. The drivers are actually very responsive but the cabinet design and crossovers were severely lacking. I had replaced the crossovers and that helped a lot, but there was something missing. I bi-ported them and they absolutely came alive and are capable of providing a very neutral response when I did frequency testing on them after the porting experiment. The original specs put the bass response at 45hz. After porting they came down to about 37hz of tight bass before rolling off. These speakers were less than $200 when I bought them. With the upgrades they sound as good as my beloved Definitive Technology setup. They definitely sound better than my Klipsch speakers now. It took me a total of 10-15 minutes to port the speakers. Now I can confidently use these speakers for stereo/hifi music with my tube amp.
