Reading Thai is perhaps the hardest thing to learn, and the book should focus on that, but does not. Although it gives a cursory overview of tone rules, there isn't much explanation. It is probably something every native Thai speaker understands, but they are not the audience of the book. While it's true that Thai script includes characters used for transliterating Sanscrit and Pali, I doubt that most readers of the book need to learn that. A major oversight: Thai script has syllables in which there is no written vowel. There are rules for which vowels should be used in these cases. I cannot find those rules here. A whole bunch of pages are spent for writing practice. I guess that's fine, but they should focus on reading. Lots of pages spent on vocabulary. That's not even what the book is for! If you want to learn, as I do, all the rules, exceptions, and details for reading Thai script so that you can actually pronounce it correctly, the best book I have found so far is Russ Crowley "How to Read Thai". He also has an app or a book to learn the consonants and vowels.

The book showed up in my Kindle PC account however I did not see where I could download the audio or Flash Cards as noted in the information for this book.

I love the book very informative. But could not retrieve the audio book which was need. The email address does not work. And laptop even lock up.

I bought this book to supplement online lessons. It’s a really good intro to the Thai script with proper stroke order and exercises. Be sure to visit the publisher’s website (listed in the book) for the audio files and answer key.

The kindle edition is faulty, you have to buy the printed one. Very good course, specially if you use it together with the course "easy Thai". La edición en kindle es defectuosa, hay que comprar la edición impresa. El curso es muy bueno, especialmente si se combina con el curso "Easy Thai". Para quien (en portugués) se queja de la falta de acceso al audio y materiales complementarios, bájelos Ud de la página de tuttle printing, son de libre acceso y muy buenos.
