Love it!
This remote control is awesome. It connects right away, and will start taking pictures instantly. I do a lot of nature trails, and rugged usage with my camera, and yes I take this remote control with me. 3 years later it is still working. I recommend this to a lot of my friends that take pictures through their Nikon cameras. Remote control range? The furthest I've used it away from the camera has been about 20 feet, and it works great. I have not tested it further than that.

Works perfectly with Nikon D5200
Any time you have to take a picture of a group, the worst thing in the world is having someone press the shutter release and then run back to the group to barely make it in time. After going through this process yet again on a church retreat last week, I decided to order the FotoTech FTML-L3 remote and give it a try. Suffice it to say, I am pleasantly surprised with how well this remote works. I am not a professional photographer, only a hobbyist. And I am using this remote with a Nikon D5200 DSLR camera. Essentially, the FTML-L3 works exactly like it should. It is my understanding that the remote operates using infrared (IR) light, much like a standard television remote. So you should think about it in those terms. In general, the remote transmitter must be able to "see" the camera in order to work (though I was able to use it in a very short range with an obstruction). With a clear line-of-sight, I was able to get the remote to work at least 10 ft away from the camera. I would guess it is capable of much more than that, but 10 ft is enough for my general purposes. One quick tip: If you are using the D5200 (and I'm assuming other cameras are similar), you MUST change the shutter release mode on the camera to respond to the remote. If you don't, nothing will happen when you press the button on the remote. I have seen a couple of places where customers thought the remote didn't work, but they had simply failed to change the shutter release mode on their cameras. On the D5200, changing this mode is simple. The first (and simplest) method of doing this is to press the "Release Mode" button near the mode dial (it has what looks like three stacked rectangles on it). This will open a menu which will allow you to change the way the camera shutter is released, including two options for using the remote (immediate and delayed release). An alternate method is to go through the Settings Menu ("MENU" button) under the "Shooting Menu" (camera icon) and change the "Release mode" setting. This will present you the same options as the first method. All in all, this product is exactly what I needed. I'm looking forward to the next time I need to take a group photo and no one has to do the dreaded race back to formation.

This tiny remote works flawlessly
I was searching for a wireless shutter release remote for my Nikon D7100 and I came across FotoTech FTML-L3 remote. I was not sure if I wanted to but a wired remote or wireless remote but after going through several reviews, I realized what I needed. I generally go with OEM's for my purchases but with so many reviews and such low price, it was worth giving a try. The remote was delivered within time and when I opened the package, I was surprised to see the size of the remote. It was really tiny and super light weight and convenient. The package did not arrived with instructions but honestly, you do not not need any instruction to operate this remote. I have read many people complaining about the remote not working but I think unless they got got a lemon, it is the camera setting. After I turned on the setting on my camera, it worked flawlessly. I am happy with this purchase and I am hoping that the battery doesn't run out of juice soon. I haven't had chance to use it much but I am certain that I will it use it every time I mount my camera on the tripod. Likes - 1. Tiny size and fits any pocket 2. Good response time 3. Good range 4. Good build quality Dislikes - 1. A power sliding switch would have been a plus to protect battery 2. The cover that came with remote could have been of better quality 3. "For Nikon" font size could have been small. The current font size gives a cheap look I would certainly recommend this over the OEM if you want to save some money (I haven't used the OEM, but I am sure that this will solve the purpose at half the price of OEM).

For starters, why not! multiple triggering!
I like this shutter release for two reasons: It works on my Nikon D610 and my Nikon 1 J1… at the same time! I just did a maternity shoot with my wife and I had both cameras set up and facing different directions. Once I hit the button, my Nikon D610 triggered right along with my J1. Granted, I was in a small space but it worked that's all that mattered and the setting was a home studio. For the price I'd definitely buy more and recommend this product. Do note that it's not perfect by far but it does work when aimed nicely and in range (short range) but in range regardless. This is no professional trigger so you don't have bells and whistles. This is not branded shutter release goodness but it does the job and that's fine. Pros: - works on J1 (mirror less) & D610 (FX D-SLR) - Can trigger multiple cameras in range at same time - comes with carry cloth and is packable (it counts when you need to fit a bunch of small gadgets somewhere and isn't burdensome…) - inexpensive Cons: - short range - doesn't allow for focusing with press of the button just image capturing - doesn't trigger %100 (however, not even branded triggers do) You be the judge. This is a fairly priced shutter release and to start, it's fine. Seriously, unless you're trying to do on-location shooting where you want a good distance between you and the camera, pay more and get a branded shutter release/trigger. DO NOT try and take this to a wedding shoot or any high end shoot where you need serious reliability. Close quarter triggering, yes. Distance, no. Get it, it's cheap, you won't regret it, use it for walk arounds and macro photography.

One of the main reasons I bought the Nikon brand ML-L3 remote was to get started with portraits. Having no friends threw a wrench in my plan. The wireless remote was fantastic -- it allowed me to take photos of myself without having to hazardously leap through the obstacle course that is my room and attempt to strike a pose before the timed camera went off (or, I lost track of time and snapped a photo of the puzzled expression on my face). Unfortunately, I lost my remote and, while only having one pair of eyes, my search was arduous and fruitless. I was back at square one; I was faced again with my original dilemma: make friends or dash in front of the camera and risk an out-of-focus shot. I came across the FotoTech ML-L3 Wireless Remote and I couldn't be more pleased; the product is almost identical to the original (only slightly thicker and less rounded) and functions just as well. Now, I can return to taking studio-quality, #notevenposing selfies that leave the smart phone-using hipsters envious and wanting.

Recomendable 100%
