ASP.NET Core 6 and Angular: Full-stack web development with ASP.NET 6 and Angular 13, 5th Edition Review: Well articulated and referenced how to guide. - I've been looking for a book of this magnitude for quite a while. The author clearly and concisely ties together (with working examples) all the key concepts of building a true industrial strength application. This is definitely my new go-to manual when trying to decipher some of the nuanced concepts of the .Net Core architecture and tying it together with Angular! You can teach an old dog new tricks! Review: Starts Slow But Then Moves Along Nicely - It starts out a little slow with the history of .Net and then the history of Angular but it takes off from there and moves along nicely. The history lesson is actually valuable information but it could have been condensed considerably. For someone like me who is looking to brush up before an interview, I just want to hit the ground running. Overall it's a good book.

Details on setup could be more streamlined
I liked the initial breakout of why Angular and ASP.NET Core are still viable contenders among other web development approaches today. But the setup approach using Visual Studio is somewhat tedious. My dependency setup to get the chapter 2 sample running didn't follow the setup outlined in the text. Specific inconsistencies occurred like on page 42 where it mentions a modal window (it doesn't exist from my Visual Studio 2022 test). Later research made me wonder why the setup didn't recommend Visual Code given it is faster and more tailored to Angular development with TypeScript. Overall a lot of coverage though in this text.

A critical read for those looking to get into Angular / ASP.NET
Background: I'm a self-taught programmer of 8+ years experience. While I am most proficient in C#, I've been around most popular languages / frameworks and am constantly looking to add to my knowledge. I've recently been on a bit of a book binge and have been reviewing many programming books these last 6 months. To sum it all up: If you have any desire to learn Angular / ASP.NET, this is the book for you. As with most programming books, the first 2 chapters have you getting set up with your IDE/environment and explain the history of the frameworks. This book, in particular, has given GREAT descriptions for all aspects of a full-stack dev, discusses in-depth about MPA/SPA/PWA/NWA and then does an excellent job of working you into your first project. It only gets better from there on out! The next chapter deals with an incredibly detailed look at your project structure, the important files and what they do, and a general overview of how ASP.NET can be used as a back-end with Angular serving the front-end. Everything is explained in great detail and nothing is left here to wonder about. The following chapters continue with the project and gradually introduces more concepts / functionality to the website. You'll finish off a HealthCheck project, which shows the results of ping tests to various websites and move on to a City/Country database project. Entity Core is introduced at this point, as well as databases, with everything explained thoroughly. You'll work your way through how to retrieve and display data, working with forms and validation, debugging and unit testing, authentication, and more! This book will give you everything you need to know to create your own website without leaving any doubts as to what things do. Probably my single biggest praise of this title is just how in-depth every step is covered; you will not be wondering what a file's purpose is or having code not explained well. Definitely a must-have!!

Easy to understand, with clear explanation of basics
I always wanted to learn to integrate Angular with my ASP.NET Web Apps, and I got a chance to read the 'Early Review Copy'. It had a lot of basic information for people with very little experience, and the information is presented in a friendly and easy to understand language.

Excellent book with continuous update
I've taught Advanced Web Development in University for last 4 years; where the main focus of the class is to build a Single-Page Application (SPA). I like that this book balances the fundamental concepts (SPA, ORM, OAuth) with very practical hands-on implementations of CORS, SignalR and many others. The book gradually builds reader's knowledge in both client (forms, observables) and server (Entity Framework) - and then ties the two together. Depending what is your background, you may skip a section or two - but it is also very helpful that it gradually builds two application (OK, health check is almost abandoned half way through - but it is nice to use it later for quick and dirty deployment). I also like the fact that unlike Microsoft, it prefers client and server running as *separate* applications. There are many other little things that come across as gems (authorization chapter alone, as they say, is worth the price)! I definitely use it as one of the guides in my class!

Good Reference Book
Before going into this review, I just wanted to clarify that I've had the opportunity to review the book beforehand digitally. First, this book mentions that it is for intermediate and experienced developers, and I believe this holds throughout. If you are new to ASP.NET Core and Angular, I'd recommend getting this as a reference book. It can be very overwhelming at first if you don't understand everything and are casually browsing through it. From an experienced developer's standpoint, I like purchasing books to reference throughout my career and work. This is one of those books you can leave close by and pull out when you need to make a quick reference or take a quick refresher. It's detailed with plenty of example code and references to other material.

The book seems OK ish, some of the writing is a bit haphazard. I rarely give a bad review but honestly, although the author may have done a good job, you're likely to get stuck with different versioning even if you've downloaded the correct versions of each framework component. They used what seems to be a beta version of visual studio 2022 which is difficult if you don't have a license. Even though I have a license there are still differences. If you look at rivals like wrox, they have forums for discussions and occasionally the author can correct their work. There was an obvious mistake on the first page of the tutorials and though you'd spot it immediately a lack of forums just doesn't really cut it these days.
