SWANSON HERBAL PROSTATE COMPLEX 200CAPS

Five stars only because this seems to help, or at least does no harm. At age 70, I reached a point where I was peeing 3-4 times a night, mostly sitting down to pee at any time, and though I'd not say it was often "painful," it was at least uncomfortable. I didn't want to take any of the regular prescription drugs or try various operations due to possible side effects. I'd heard of herbal supplements and did a little, very little, research finding an National Institutes of Health site that led to some medical journal articles that basically seemed to say better studies were needed but there might indeed be some positive effects from the three active ingredients in this product. The dose says 1 or 2 capsules 2x per day. I began with one per day, and graduated up to 2, 2x per day, going a week each time. Nothing for about 2 weeks, then some improvement in flow, discomfort, and frequency - stressing here that ANY improvement, and I don't care if it's placebo, is huge. Peeing only once or twice at night, feeling more "emptied out" each time, and able to pee standing more frequently. I still do get strong urges to pee. After about two weeks on 2, 2x per day, I noticed a diminution of effect, so I've now returned to 1, 2x per day, and the positive effects returned. Again, is the effect really dose dependent such that a higher does is less effective? Is it all placebo? Beats me, and I don't care either way - 1, 2x per day seems to work for me, and the cost is easily worth it. I don’t seem to have any digestive side effects.

Anecdotal evidence only so it's scientifally worthless but at least I can boost the overall average rating. I have been taking saw palmetto for years to try to control PSAs. My numbers have always been in normal range except for one or two way high tests that in retrospect were measuring errors but have me stuck as a high-risk patient. I thought the idea of combining two treatments made sense, so I switched to the combo, about doubling my daily cost. I've had reduced bladder capacity for years from BPE. Almost immediately after beginning the combo my bladder capacity went back to where it was 10 or 15 years ago.I was hopeful that it had reduced my BPE but the last exam proved that was not the case. So I guess I have better muscle tone or something. Bladder capacity is still improved after several months. I'm not inclined to stop treatment to get better "proof" of cause and effect, so I will continue with the combo. FWIW, my last PSA test showed level holding steady, reducing the panic but still leaving me on high-risk protocol. 7/31/2020 update The last two times at least that I ordered more product, I found the best price by far at Swanson's web site.

Product is good, I have used prior, BUT why do they have to put a sticker over the Directions, stupid robot!!
