Best shower control ever
So my shower door broke. A cheap little pivot pin on the bottom corroded and snapped in half. No replacement available, so I got a new shower door delivered. After taking the old frame off, I found the shower was leaking. Time to tear out the tile and replace it. And since I was going to have the wall open, it made sense to replace the mixer and diverter valve. While going through Amazon, I saw this and checked it out. Twice as much as replacing the plumbing with like stuff, but so, so worth it. Be aware you have to have access to the plumbing wall, and a minimum 14" wide, 29" tall access panel. My valve and head are in a wall that opens into the toilet closet, so I didn't have a problem, but if your shower has the valve in wall shared by a hallway, bedroom, or (shudder) outside wall, you'll want to think twice before getting this. Installation is easy and very simple - I did it DIY, and I'm not a plumber. The battery backup is a bit of a rip-off (seriously, Moen? $65 for a plastic battery case and cable?). I'd still do it again. Updated after complete installation and testing: As the other reviewer noted, my phone and the controller wouldn't connect. My phone is an Android, and I'm running the (currently beta) latest revision of the software, Android O, although I also tried it when I was running the latest release, Android N. I tried several times to get it to connect, but it just wasn't happening. So I went a different way. My work phone is an iPhone, which immediately found the controller and went through the installation without a hitch. The controller was added to my Moen account, so it also showed up on my Android phone, and now it's all working the way it's supposed to. My guess - without knowing anything about how the Moen app is written - they're trying to do something the default security of Android won't allow, because it's a suspicious connection. So it can't connect and we just time out. Updated again: It stopped working with my Android phone, consistently shows the controller is offline, so another call to Moen support. I'm used to being an "early adopter", so problems that don't make things unusable but can be fixed aren't a show-stopper for me. I have to say they're being very attentive to this. They've called me back a couple of times to try different approaches and get more information. In the mean time, it works from the controller, and I'm still happy with it. I've found the shower temp I like (105F) and it alerts me when my 10 minute shower time is up.

Replaced my old Moen Aqualisa IODigital System with this U Controller & Moen S3104 Valve 4-Outlet
I had the Old Moen System that came with my house. No Idea on the Age, but One of my Ports stopped working. I replaced that System with this System. One Important Note, the App does not like any Caps in your email address. Took me a while to figure that one out. The App is a little Flakey on Android and Sometimes Crashes when Trying to Change Presets or Settings and/or Saving, but 2nd Time around usually gets it. I also have mine working with Alexa and that Works Pretty well so you can Say "Alexa, Ask Moen to Start Preset 1" Controls Work Well. Press 1 of the 4 Shower Head Selection Buttons to Toggle on or off. Press the Up Down Keys to Adjust Temp. If you Press and Hold The 1 or 2 Key it will save to that Preset. Next Time you shower you can just press 1 or 2 and it will be just as you left it. You can of course start from Alexa or the Phone App & you can adjust settings on the Phone App as well. Note that the Controller at the End of the Video is something separate for my Sauna Info on the Companion Moen S3104 Valve 4-Outlet I used PEX & Sharkbite Connectors. The Top hooked up to the 1/2 Inch Sharkbite Connectors that were on my Old System as it was installed with Pex for the Old System as the 4 Valves on top Do Not Line up Exactly the Same way. This New System is much shorter From Top to Bottom so you will have Room to Retrofit if they had Not used Pex, you'll just need a lot more Pex & Connectors. The Bottom is 3/4

Works great when it works but has died 8 times in two months
Updated review: - This product is simply not ready for primetime and you can tell that it's a water company trying it's hand at tech. The water part works well. The tech part, that it requires a 2.4 Ghz network, that it's homekit integration isn't documented, that the website doesn't work well, that it didn't register our account properly, that it resets itself randomly all just point to a company out of it's depth when it comes to making long-term workable app & tech products. Unfortunately, this product is fabulous when it works and a lovely luxury, but it just doesn't work. We originally had two problems: 1) The app is really hard to configure and get working - it's like working with apps from 10 years ago. 2) Biggest problem is that the unit keeps losing power which means you can't have a shower until you open up a wall panel, unplug, replug, and reboot. What a PITA. After working with tech support (leave it unplugged for 5 minutes (which if you have the battery backup means going into the shower encloser and fumbling with cables), and make sure it's on your wifi (which has to use 2.4Ghz - and that's inconsistent - see Reddit) and which took 37 attempts to finally work we did get it connected to the server and it worked great for about 30 minutes. After which the app lost our credentials and couldn't find them again. This has never happened to me across the hundreds of product and other accounts I've used in my life. Stay away, this product just isn't ready for prime time. It's a product from a water company that thinks adding a screen and an app is easy stuff. It isn't and they failed.

Absolutely LOVE the temp control and with on and off buttons, but the app gets 2/3 of the way through the setup device and hangs. I'm convinced it's my 2.4 and 5G service on my cell. The phone wants to use 5 but the app wants 2.4... uhg. Tried disconnecting phone from 5g network and 2.4 couldn't find the internet? Like why is this so difficult? my house is FULL of smart devices that i've personally connected and they talked to the phone... After reading the essay the other client wrote I pressed the down key and my shower can SEE the wifi, but it says it's not connected? Seriously? Any advice? Anyone? I would call the manufacturer eventually but this approach may be faster... Update: It finally connected!!! Guess it just wanted to feel at home before it let me connect... I don't see a U by Moen in my 'works with google' though. More investigation req'd.
