BadCustomerServiceBEWARE: MISMATCHED PRODUCT # w/ WARRANTY! - Best massager I ever purchased and just as good or better than any massage I’ve ever paid for. Myself and the 2 others in my household used it regularly, making our leather recliner into a heavenly place for relief in any moment. Our guests periodically would try it and some would use it every visit. It ran strong for a year and 6 months before right side rotating shiatsu massager stopping working. Although we continued using it anyway, I brought out the warranty info, pulled up my receipt and saw I had 6 more months of the 2 year warranty. Sweet victory!! I found the phone number for Homedics customer service, called to make sure my product would still be covered and how to go about making a claim and getting it fixed or replaced. On the phone, they verified all my info, gave me an email address to send the required documents; proof of purchase/receipt, photographs of the broken massager, a photo of the massagers tag and product number. They informed me they would honor the warranty and replace the product with a new one as soon I returned soon and they receive the broken one which I was required to mail to them at my own expense. I paid $120 for it originally and to mail it back cost me $48 & change but still, for me, it was worth it. They received my email. Replied to my email confirming what they said on the phone so I shipped out the broken one and waited patiently for them to receive it and contact me. So I waited and waited and waited and finally emailed them to check status. They replied about a week later letting me know they would not honor the warranty because the product number on the receipt said M510H but the product I had said 511H and I didn’t check to make sure they matched when I bought it. Never thought to. And although I provided photographs and the receipt, they not I caught the inconsistency or if they did they had me send it back anyway with an expectation for a replacement. Well apparently one of the 2 is discontinued and the other one isn’t reflected on my proof of purchase. So they refused to replace the product at all. They offered nothing else, no further instructions, no solution no gesture no apology and no offer to send back the one I sent to them. I replied asking them to reconsider, consider the circumstances, consider it’s not my mistake, consider the times we are in as a country and to consider that I’d just spent $48 to send them my old one that at least half worked when I shipped it out to them. The final response I received was an offer of a 30% off coupon.. That’s it. So I’m supposed to swallow $48 and spend another $100-$150 to replace it with something comparable and get less off than I spent on shipping?? Great massager or not, Homedics will never get my business again and I’ll make sure everyone I know and everywhere I review this product is informed of this shameful careless customer service method. I feel like I got tricked and maybe even scammed out of a product they can now fix and resell and I can have a 30% off coupon BUT only if I respond to let them know if I want it or not. These people gotta be kidding me. Who cares about customer satisfaction right!? Pffft. ME! Review: Soothing but a bit rough - You can set this massage cushion from HoMedics from a rolling / vibrating massage to a deep, circular one. With the control, you can select the full vertical range of massage motion (from top of back to lower back) or focus on 3 distinct areas. Also, you can manually move a smaller massage range to be anywhere within the full vertical range. You can add heat or not. I estimate the back portion of the massager- the part that houses all of the massaging mechanism- to be about 5 inches thick. I guess I was expecting something thinner since I was used to our thinner, cheaper model that crapped out a year ago. The thickness is not a problem, just be prepared to put this in a chair that will accommodate it. My wife and I both agree that when you set the control for the deep circular massage, you should put a couple of towels between you and the massage cushion. The massager, when set to the deep, rotary setting is too rough for us without the towels. Very relaxing. It turns off after about 15 mintues which is good, because we often fall asleep. I can't imaging waking up after a couple of hours with this thing having run the whole time.

This is amazing. I bought it expecting it to be meh
This is amazing. I bought it expecting it to be meh. It is so great. I crossfit 5x a week and my back is always a bit sore under my shoulder blades and my lower back. This thing gets in all the right places - and you can control where it stops and how wide it goes to get right in there to deal with those sore tender spots. It feels so good. The cost of this is minor compared to what a massage would cost considering you can do this every day. The heat feature is awesome. The roller feature on mine sounds like it is really laboring, not sure if that is how it is supposed to sound - I will be reaching out to the company. I love it and am so glad I bought it.

Better than most massage chairs but not for petite people
I had high hopes for this chair because it says you can adjust the width. I am 5'0 100lbs and I could not get this chair to massage the muscles in my lower back close to my spine, which is my problem area. That being said it is better than other chairs I have tried. I find it a bit rough around bony prominences. Placing a blanket over it is helpful but takes away the warming effect. I do not use this as much as I had anticipated, but when I do and can get the positioning exactly right, it is effective.

Confusing Photo / Hard and Uncomfortable
Purchased for my elderly mother, but she was immediately unable to use it because (1) it was made very rigid and hard and was therefore very uncomfortable for her to use and (2) none of the photos of the unit show how thick it is. From all photos it looks to be fairly thin and soft. However, the back is about 5-1/2 inches thick and overall the unit is very hard and rigid. My mother is of average size (not overweight) and we bought it to use in her recliner, but by the time the unit was placed in the chair, there was very little room for her to sit comfortably. Leaning back was not an option at all. The unit may work OK for a very thin person in a very large chair, but it was a useless purchase for us. As Amazon doesn't accept purchases that have been opened (well, duh!), I was forced to re-sell the unit locally. Never even turned it on. Hated it.

it gives a nice convenient massage that helps loosen up my back
Got this at the recommendation of a nurse in my office who has a similar device. At first my wife teased me a bit because of the silly name. However, it gives a nice convenient massage that helps loosen up my back. The heat is very nice and popular in my house. Now my wife uses this unit as much as I do and we both like it. I set mine on a love seat and plug it in. Does require an extension cord unless you sit right next to an outlet. Has a rotating kneading motion, a up and down rolloing motion, and a spot kneading function. I prefer the kneading. Controls are simple and work good. I am using this device more than I thought I would. Love it.

The two modes and options for each mode mean that you can customize your massage session to perfection. A solid and well made device that is well worth the price. A 2 year warranty indicates an above standard product. I have been using this product for a few weeks and find that the rolling massage stretches my spine and even produces minor adjustments when the discs are a little out of alignment. The kneading massage gets right into the knots and is perfect for getting between the shoulder blades if you raise your arms to the sides to allow the "fingers" access to that area. And the heat is perfect, it gets nice and hot, and stays warm after it is turned off for quite a while.

This is a phenomenal Massage Cushion. I bought it for a friend of mine, so I don't use it myself, but from her reports it worked immediately out of the box and has continued to work brilliantly in the six months since. It will focus on a particular spot or work the entire back depending on which of the many options you choose with the remote control. As others have mentioned, it is a very intense massage, so maybe the covering towel people are recommending is a good idea for some. I did a lot of research before buying it, and couldn't be more pleased that people's reviews pointed me in the right direction. Get one!

I like my HoMedic massager very much, I have a trailer for the summer season and need a 2nd one fo there, so I don’t have to carry it back and forth, I have chronic arthritis in my back and my massager sure helps to relieve my aches and pains! I’d recommend this product to anyone who is like me!

exactly what I needed. Works the knots out in the back. Not suited for exceptionally tall people as you can't move the product up as it attached to the seat.
