Tonight I received the mechanism for the recliner. The part is great and it's also made of metal. I had plastic. I assembled it according to the seller's instructions. The assembly pictures helped me so much. In short, I'm glad I bought the product and assembled it in 20 minutes. Highly recommend. Works great, like new.

This is a universal item used for many brands of recliners. Exceptional product! All metal handle & release components with metal cable clip. Trigger cable is adjustable, solid terminal cable cyclinder fits perfectly into metal cutout & wire lays perfectly into metal channel on handle, has a spring at hook end of cable to provide smooth, reliable operation. Replacing plastic handle on recliner which broke after 4 months of use. Fantastic product, easy to install.

We bought this to replace a plastic one which broke off our Costco sofa recliner. We love the couch and were so pleased that this fit in perfectly. It was a like for like match, minus the broken one being plastic. We couldn't be happier with the new replacement. It's a high quality metal so it won't break like the original one did. It has screw holes in the same place for easy replacement. There are two on the back and two on the sides to accommodate a number of installation types. I watched the 23 second video someone else had posted and I had mine installed it about two minutes more because I lost a screw. Super easy to install and the handle is very easy to pull without causing pain to my arthritic hands. I may even buy a second to replace the other side since it's so much easier to pull. Only complaint was it not coming with instructions, but nothing Youtube can't help you with. I would still highly recommend buying this item to make all your movie night cuddling that much better.

Even if your couch handle looks like this and is the same outer diameter, it may not fit without forcing the handle into place. If you find that to be the case, I recommend returning and trying a different brand. Yes, you can mallet it into place, but these are breakable (I broke one this way, and I wasn't whacking it with a lot of force). After replacing the new one that I broke during install, I was much more careful the second time around and it worked fine. The first time I replaced a handle on this couch, the replacement I picked out went in without needing to be forced. I didn't re-purchase that brand because it was more expensive at the time, but ultimately it would have saved me money compared to breaking one and then buying a second. Despite their fragility with respect to mallets, these seem to be much better quality than the cheap plastic that came with my couch. I'm not concerned the handle itself will break, which is how both of my older handles went. The only mildly complicated part is running the cable through to the bottom of your couch. It is hard to line it up with the opening, and for me there just wasn't space to reach up there. I sliced the liner, because the couch was cheap and I don't care that much. If it was a nicer couch, I would not have been willing to do that. In hindsight, it might have been better to attached a string to the old unit and pull that string through the handle opening from the bottom while pulling the old unit out. That would have allowed me to pull the new unit through using the string, hopefully making it easy to get it through the hole in the lining without slicing anything. Of course, that only works if that portion is still intact (in my case the handle broke, the rest was fine).

This was a perfect replacement for the broken one in my ANJ HOME Fabric Recliner Chair. The installation was easy and it did not require adjustment. There is an excellent video of its installation on You Tube.
