Wheeler quality and perfect operation.
I have a lot of Wheeler tools. The digital Fat Wrench is one of my favorites. The 'T' handle torque limiters are likewise awesome, both in function and quality of construction. I had a difficult time choosing the Wheeler digital trigger gauge over the Lyman. For example, the Wheeler had a LOT of negative feedback, concerning the display being all scratched up. No issue here, the Wheeler was in perfect, mint condition. Two things made me choose the Wheeler: 1. The load cell is on the end of the arm which allows you to place your trigger finger on it, as you slowly squeeze the trigger. The consistency of the readings are amazingly consistent. 2. The Lyman gauge will display the weight of the operating rod, depending on how you hold the tool. This is because the load cell is in the handheld display unit. Check out the YouTube videos for both. Today. I replaced trigger spring in my CZ 457 Varmint 22Mag rifle. Stock, the factory trigger broke at 2 lb 13 oz. After an aftermarket spring swap, it now measures a consistent 14 oz with no pre or overtravel. Easy adjustments. Nice storage box as well! VERY pleased and highly recommended!!

Has several advantages over it's mechanical counterpart
I wasn't sure this would be worth the increased price over the mechanical version, as well as the need to have batteries to run it. Now that I've been using it a few times, it definitely is. This reads lower trigger pull weights better, like on an air pistol trigger down at 500g. It's also nice that it can run a series of trigger pull weights over and over and average them right on the meter, which helps get rid of any errors you may cause yourself occasionally on some bad pulls. I've also come to appreciate how the weight sensor is in the tip where it contacts the trigger. On the mechanical version of the gauge, you have to pull the main body, and the weight is a function of how far it pulls the trigger arm out of the body itself, against a spring. This electronic version can, but does NOT HAVE TO BE pulled by the gauge body itself. You can get the sensor on the trigger, then put your finger over the top of the sensor itself, like you're directly pressing the trigger and just sandwiching the sensor in the middle. Especially on lighter trigger pulls, that's given me the ability to much more carefully and slowly depress the trigger right up to the release point. Trying it that way, and then by just pulling back on the body of the gauge itself, similar to using the mechanical version, I've found less variance, and closer pull weights to average out, so I'm able to do better trigger pulls with this one. To me those additional gains are worth the extra $40 over the mechanical one. If you weren't really concerned with the accuracy of your measurements, you'd just hang the go/no-go weight on it and see if it passed. If you're buying a gauge in the first place, you usually want to know where you're really at, how close you are to the "no-go" point, and what effect any work or adjustments you just did had on your trigger pull. Basically, if you need to measure it, do it accurately.

Accurate but cheaply built
So I tested the accuracy of this device against a small soda can which is 7.5oz. The device read 7.9 oz which is acceptable to me, considering you have to factor in the weight of the can itself. So yes it’s pretty accurate. I do find that it’s important to pull at a slow and steady pace to get the most accuracy. If you get close readings then you are doing it right. If you get an outlier, omit the reading. Overall, accurate little gadget but it would be nicer if the plastic housing was of better quality. It felt like a cheap plastic for 70 bucks! Will work but don’t drop this gadget too much!

i have confidence in this gauge
there's alot to like and very little to dislike. it would have been better to have had a much larger screw to secure the battery door. picky....i know, but i'm always looking for perfection. also, some of the display characters are too small to read.....way, way too small. i had to get my magnifier to read them. i've had a Lyman gauge for years and it is o.k., but my Lyman gauge is not in the class of this one the input buttons are well organized and very intuitive. the instruction sheet is well written and there is no ambiguity. it appears to have been written by a professional who knows the English language. that cannot be said for alot of products that are manufactured overseas. i have confidence that i'm getting accurate readings with this unit. if you're looking for a good gauge i don't think you will regret buying the Wheeler.

Works very well, easy to use
I can confirm this device gives accurate readings. The readings I got were in line with the published trigger weights on a few triggers that I tested. Granted, you will not get the same exact weight on each pull, that is why the unit gives an average. You do need to make sure you don't continue to pull, though, when the trigger breaks. That can give innacurate readings. I thought the device was very easy to use and self explanatory. Another solid product from Wheeler that is a great value. I did notice the unit looked beat up when I opened it, and thought it may have been used. However, based on some other reviews, I think that is because of how the unit is packaged, without plastic or a screen cover, and it rubs on the internal foam lining in the case and causes the scratches. Either way, I'm not worried about it and think this trigger pull gauge works great.
