A work horse of the flash light world
I've had this flashlight with the rechargeable USB Streamlight battery since August 2019 (3/1/23 Now) I've had it on my person every single day for the past 3 and a half years and use it very often/multiple times a day, every day. Finally last week when I turned it on, it would immediately go dim and die in 1 second. I charged the battery, it showed green (fully charged) and did the same thing. After buying a new Streamlight SL-B26 Rechargeable USB Battery, the flashlight worked perfectly again. (Yes this is the same battery and will fit) As you can see my flashlight has been through hell and back and is still as durable, reliable, and bright as the first day I got it. I love this little baby! 😁 The clip has stayed on and strong, maybe pinched it closed tighter with pliers for a tighter fit once or twice, so that days alot about its strength and durability. (Dual direction clip BTW/Hangs bezel down or up/As well as clipping on your hat brim or shoulder) the cap still holds a great seal (Also has a small hole in the top cap that you can attatch string or some other way to connect it to your body or wherever for extra security. Ive done this before using fishing line to prevent the flashlight from getting snagged completely off my body and getting lost, especially if its loud and dark, you wouldnt even know you dropped it until you need it most) and the glass/plastic window the light shines through has stayed intact without any scratches or breaking at all thanks to its durability and the bezel. This flashlight is a workhorse and shines SO bright, plus you get the 3 functions. This is my go to and it's part of my EDC (Everyday Carry). I don't go anywhere without it. If you are a firearm carrier, a flashlight is a must have. If you don't carry, it's a must have. This flashlight has saved my life and wellbeing so many times plus the times I didn't even realize it's saved my butt, I couldn't even imagine the number of times this flashlight has had my back. Amazing quality and an amazing price. P.S. Rechargeable USB battery is the way to go, just stick with Streamlight brand so you KNOW you have the best operating system. A flashlight will save your life, literally, and all the way to "Oh darn I dropped something lemme get my light out, to camping, to power outage, the possibilities are endless, and this is the flashlight I trust my life with. ❤️ Well done and thank you Streamlight.

LOVE IT Streamlight ROCKS!
The name says it all this is a very nice flashlight I originally purchased one of these two years ago and it's still going strong I got this one just in case I lose the old one I have because it was on sale but love this flashlight love love it recommend this flashlight to anybody. 500 lumens is bright the actual flashlight itself the head of the flashlight where the bomb is is pretty much the same size as the whole tube which makes it nice the other brighter higher lumen flashlights have a bigger bulb area whatever you want to call it so yeah this one is just freaking awesome.

Great Everyday Light
I had to get a light to replace my Surefire D3FT and quickly. I didn't really feel like dropping another few hundred on a light so I started looking at more budget friendly options. This thing has been great. It's very bright, the flood is nice and wide for illuminating trails in the dark, and the hotspot is great for reaching out when trying to spot something a decent distance away. You can comfortably see about 50yds away with this light on high, which for a handheld light should be more than enough. Rather lightweight in the hand, but feels very sturdy and durable. I wouldn't push my luck as far as I would with a SureFire, but it's held up to the normal abuse an EDC light normally would see with no issues whatsoever. The "ten-tap" programmable button is a nice luxury to have, but frankly I normally just run the light on the high only function. Overall thoughts are, I haven't felt the need to replace this light with a higher end one as it is getting the job done just as well so far. I highly recommend you pick one up if you're considering it.

Fantastic light!
Greatest light I've ever owned. My previous, rather old LED lights from Streamlight and Surefire, both of which are 1st generation 5W emitters, have nowhere near the power and versatility of this thing. What sold me the most was this lights mode settings. It can be set to power on in low mode first. When it's dark, or for task lighting like looking into a computer case, or whatever, it's low power output is more than enough and will run for 30hrs. The integrated clip works in either direction and holds the light secure in my pocket. The small diameter bell is unobtrusive, unlike my old Surefire or Streamlight, which are considerably thicker and rather bulky for pocket carry. My only criticism is that this light doesn't quite sit flush on it's tail cap. The button extends just enough to make it wobble around slightly. it will stand up on a perfectly flat surface, but if the lugs on the tail cap were just a hair longer, it wouldn't wobble around. It can also do high power first and has a strobe mode as well, if you're into that sort of thing. I like low, then high, personally. 500 lumen in an apartment with white walls is just blinding and complete overkill, but if you need the power, it's there. Highly recommended.

Another great light from streamlight
Update Nov 9th 2024: it's now been 4 years and I carry and use this light every day in my profession. I work in the Automtive industry. This light has been put through a lot, from regular daily use to many drops to the concrete floor in the shop. The light has also had all automotive fluids on it at some point and no issues. This is still the best EDC light. Another great light from Streamlight. This light is small and compact enough for everyday carry, it is just barely larger in diameter then a quarter (see picture) . The pocket clip hold tight and doubles as a head light, you can clip it on the bill of your hat without having to remove the clip from the light (see pictures) . Great design on the clip A++. I have other brands of lights that will do that, but you have to remove the clip and filp it which it usually not easy and definitely not convenient. This light is vary bright as you can see in the picture and that tree is 50+ yards away. It was pitch black out when the picture was taken. The pictures were taken with my Galaxy Note 20 ultra and it was not in night mode. Camera settings were set to default so no extra enhancements. I will be buying more of these lights. I think this is the BEST LIGHT FOR THE MONEY HANDS DOWN. I purchased model PROTAC 2L-X 88062 500 Lumens, this model comes with 2 CR123A batteries. You can also use one 18650 which I will be purchasing the Streamlight 18650 batteries since they have a micro USB port bulit in to them so no special charger needed. Streamlight also offers a version of the PROTAC 2L-X that has a micro USB port built in to the light for when using rechargeable batteries you don't have to remove them from the light to charge them.

Needs a side button
Very, very nice flashlight. Not too bright, not too dim, not too big, not too small, not a lot of idiotic features you will probably never use. I got the rechargeable one that uses 18650 batteries. FYI: These are not standard 18650s. They have a little charging gizmo on the top, making them about .25" longer than standard 18650s. Standards might work, but not flat tops. I've tried and they don't work. I don't have any standard button tops, so I don't know about those. The USB plug-in for charging takes a freakin' eternity just to top one off. They will charge much faster in a standard 18650 charger, though, if you have one that expands long enough to fit the extra length. My advice: Buy a couple extra batteries and keep them charged up just in case. Streamlight also has a standard charger for these batteries, but it's pricey. The Ten Tap programming works well. I set mine to Low/High and will probably never change it. Also came with a high quality belt pouch. I really wish it had a side button instead of or in addition to the tail switch. That's my only complaint. Solid recommendation.

Best EDC light I have used
After losing my old streamlight Pro-tac flashlight of 7 years I knew it was time to find a replacement. Thankfully, streamlight has continued their innovation and have offered this package. The light is slightly larger in diameter to my old one due to the rechargeable battery. What was lost in terms of a slight size difference is made up for in the lumen capacity (500 vs 200) and the fact that you don’t have to be constantly purchasing and replacing the CR123 batteries. This light can still utilize those if you are sitting on a stockpile of them. The battery charges rather rapidly and indicated charging with a red light and charged with a green light. Much like other streamlight lights this has the 10 tap programming where you can select your preferred switch order. So far, the only issue I have had with the light is that when using it to tap objects to check for voids and fluid levels the pressure switch does have issues. It will come on at random when doing the tap checks and continue to do so. The solution to this is to unscrew the rear cap like you would to take the battery out and then screw it back on. If this light is of the same quality as my old lost one then I expect it to last a lifetime. I have multiple Streamlight products and they have all been an excellent value and highly durable. If you are in the market for a great everyday carry and use light then this is an excellent choice.

Outstanding Sweet-Spot EDC Flashlight, But Do Yourself a Favor...
This is an excellent LED flashlight. sturdy, well built, attractive, and with a quality warranty. But do yourself a favor. Buy the ProTac 2L-X version (in "Easy Open Box" [because, for just a dollar more than the "Clamshell" version, you get the holster included]). Do NOT waste money on the "USB" version (it costs $19+ additional [more than $20 additional by the time you pay sales tax]). That's an almost 40% "up charge" for very little benefit. Here's why: The fancy 'USB" rechargeable battery does work, and may be very trick, but really? Don't you already have an 18650 charger or two that gives you more information when you charge a cell (like No. of mAH for the charge, charge time, initial and terminal voltages, ability to automatically run full discharge / charge cycles, etc.)? Even if you're not interested in those features, there are other reasons simply to supply your own 18650 Li Ion cell... The "Streamlight USB" 18650 is stated to be a 2600 mAH cell. For $5 @ IMRBatteries or your favorite online battery store (OK, a dollar more when not on sale) you can purchase, say, a high-quality Samsung "30Q" 3000 mAH button-top 18650. So you have at least 15% more capacity for way less than the $20 Streamlight cell. Plus you can then get a couple of spare Samsungs to keep on hand as fully-charged backups, or for your other 18650-powered devices - and still come out ahead. i'm a big believer in using the Li Ion 18650s instead of the CR123s (which are expensive [$1.50 - $3.00 each] and produce the rated 500 lumens ONLY at the very beginning of their in-service life: they then promptly begin a steady voltage decline, producing ever-lower levels of light output [Li Ion batteries maintain much flatter voltage levels until depleted]). Nevertheless, it is a good idea to keep a couple of CR123s on hand for emergency use in a situation where one may not be able to recharge the Li Ion cells. The Li CR123s also have a very long (10+ year) shelf life when stored under normal conditions. But note: the ProTac 2L-X version ships with two Streamlight LI CR123s, which would cost you still another ~$4.00 to have as backups. The "USB" version, OTOH, ships only with the USB-enabled 18650 - no CR123s. So buying the 2L-X version with included CR123s saves even more. Important final tip: Note that the overall length of the USB-rechargeable 18650 is ~ 2.75", while a "normal" button-top 18650 (like the Samsung, for example), is ~2.56" tall. That 0.19" (shorter) difference could potentially cause a 'contact problem' when using the normal / UNadorned-with-USB-charging-extension version of an 18650. (You'll know if that is the case because, even with the tail cap screwed down all the way, the light will refuse to turn on. ) To remedy this, either stretch the internal tailcap spring to re-establish reliable contact or (much preferred) simply snap one of those little 10mm x 3mm Neodymium "refrigerator magnets" onto the button / positive top of the "normal" 18650 - to increase its overall length. And Voila! All is good.
