Everything You Need to Know About Snakes Review: The best snake book! - MY son's favorite snake book. Ok, favorite book period. He is 5 1/2 and loves snakes. He is also very persnickety in general, and he told me this book was his favorite Christmas present this year! This has enough pages, pictures, and topics to keep him interested, but not so many pages or facts that it is overwhelms him. It is perfect for age 4 or 5 through age 8 I would say, or older depending on your child's needs and temperament. My son is not reading, so I read it to him, so from that point of view, I like that the facts and text is short enough that I can read it to him without boring him. It will be good for for a reader, although some of the words might be challenging. It is a lot of pages and info, so many nights I only read half of it to my son (partly because he dilly dallies and asks a million questions per page and I have two other kids to read to!). The pictures are top notch. Some are pretty intense photos of fangs and such, but if your kid is interested in snakes, that is probably exactly what they want to see. It is intense but nothing to give the kid nightmares. My 3 year old son also likes to look at it, and it doesn't seem to intense for him. Ditto with my ultra girly, hates bugs and snakes, 7 year old daughter. She actually looks at it, even though usually photos of snakes kind of scare her. There are a few pictures of snakes eating things, but they are not gruesome. I highly recommend this for the snake loving kid in your life! Review: Good information for young readers - My daughter really enjoyed this book with good info on snakes.

We all love this book
We bought a snake and so I thought we should learn about it. This book has been great for the 6yr old and 11 yr old. It has great pictures and interesting info, and even I love reading with them. The one question it didn’t answer for us- how do snakes poop?

Far from "Everything You I Needed to Know"
This is a fairly decent book. It's far from being as in depth as a book with the title Everything You Need to Know About Snakes would have you believe. In truth it doesn't contain all that much. It tells a fair amount about a couple select breeds, and that's about it. It's also got some nice pictures, but it's a long way from being everything one would need to know. My 6 year old son is obsessed with snakes. Every week he checks out a new snake book from the school library. This features more snakes than those, but for the few it does feature it doesn't go into anymore detail than the ones he gets from school. There's a section that talks about different types of venom, and how they work, which I'd probably say is the most interesting thing in this book, and there's also a section that talks about the anatomy of snakes with reference pictures. There's also a cool little Snake or Fake section that shows a few lizards that some might mistake for snakes which I thought was fairly interesting. That's about the only thing that this book has that the school library books don't. There was a two page Python vs Alligator section similar to the Who Would Win book series as well as a four page Monster Snake section where it talked about the Titanoboa. Two of those four pages was comprised of a recreated image of the snake, and featured a small bio in the top left corner. The other two pages contained a total of four small boxes which provided a little bit more information about the snake. Those were the two things my kid enjoyed the most. That's all cool, but I was searching for the best snake book I could buy for him. This might be as good as it gets as far as children's books go. I haven't been looking that long, so I don't know, but I hope that's not the case. I know a fair amount about snakes myself, and I can tell you that this book didn't teach me anything that I didn't already know. I'd like to find a book that has everything there is to know about snakes, with maybe even a comparison section where it features similar looking snakes, and explains how they're different/how to tell them apart. My search continues. If you've got a kid with a mild interest in snakes who doesn't know much about them then this book is probably right up your alley, but if you're looking for a comprehensive end all be all of snake books then I'd advise you to pass on this one. It is a beautiful book though.

A great book on snakes
My nine year old granddaughter is very interested in snakes so this book was a perfect gift for her on her birthday. The colors and pictures are clear and vibrant. The descriptions of the different types of snakes was great and she read them all and understood. If you want an informative book with lots of knowledge this is it!

Out 5 year old Grandson gets so immersed in things that fascinate him, and this year is snakes! He loves to learn everything about what he loves and this will help fill his curious mind with knowledge of snakes. Beautiful illustrations that will help him identify the different types of snakes.

My nine-year-old loves snakes. So I got her this book for Christmas. She carries it around and uses it as a reference all the time. She spouts out random facts now and then that I had no idea about snakes. It’s almost like it’s her Bible
