My go-to pair
Absolutely brilliant. I've gone through half a dozen binoculars over the years of various styles and sizes and have been looking for that elusive perfect pair and these getty pretty damn close. I've been using them for about 6 months now. I previously had another pair of 8x32 Opticrons which were a bit more compact than these but the field of view was a bit restricted when wearing glasses. These however have a wonderful wide view even with specs. The image is bright and clear across a good portion of the eyepiece. Focus wheel is smooth and precise. Near-focus range is about 2 m which is great for getting a zoomed in view of butterflies and the like during the summer. There's no discernible spherical or chromatic aberration. There's a tripod mounting point which is handy. They're both light and sturdy in the hand and feel very solidly built. The neck strap is nicely padded, one side is a soft rubber and the other more fabric-y so it's easy to find something that doesn't slip on jacket material and something softer when wearing a t-shirt. The lens covers are also good and don't fall off which is welcome. There's some lens flare when under bright sun or looking across water for example but this is a fairly minor gripe. As these are good quality I've found the image brightness is equivalent to a larger cheaper 8x42 so I'd save the weight and bulk and use these. They aren't the cheapest in the world but feel like very good value.

Robust binoculars that punch well above their price
I obsessively researched compact binoculars over several days, reading every review comparison and Reddit thread and these came out top at their price point. Performance wise they were generally rated alongside the big boys of the binocular world at a fraction of the price. They give a bright, clear image and seem very robust. Despite being “compact” they’re still relatively large and they just about fit in the pocket of my waterproof. I debated about whether to go for 8x or 10x magnification, and in the end went for 8x for the ease of use. Comparing them to my partner’s 10x there is very little difference in the detail you can make out. Happy with my choice!

Binoculars
I bought these after returning another VERY well known brand (8x42). The other pair didnt suit my IPD (pupils). These are very well made, easy to use, and produce a very clear well lit subject. Ideal for bird watching. As these are 10x42 they are more suited to long distance viewing, and be honest how many birds perch 10 feet away from you?

These Opticron Oregon 8x42 binoculars are a great value. They are very well built with quality rubber armor that is easy to grip. The comfortable eye cups are easily adjustable and stay put. The view is clear and bright with good contrast. There is plenty of eye relief at 22nm. The objective eye covers and rain guard are decent quality and stay in place, as well as the case and neck strap. The only knock on these binoculars is the slight bit of glare while viewing towards the direction from which the sun is shining but not directly in the sun. I’ve mostly used Steiner AF binoculars for hunting but decided to buy a pair of roof prism binoculars for birding. I’ve tried several pairs of higher quality binoculars costing over twice as much, but these Opticron Oregons provide the most comfortable view. Overall, I’m impressed, and they come with a lifetime warranty to boot.

Quality product. I've used all sorts of optics over the years and these are the real deal. Funny thing, I poured over reviews, fussed, second-guessed but the moment I handed them over to my wife (who as much as I lover her couldn't tell the difference in the glass from a telescope to a Coke bottle) right away she said "Ohhhh these are good 'nocs". I rest my case.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Got these based on the Cornell Lab recommendation and they're great! Really happy with them. The colors are clear and the field of view is great. I One note on delivery (doesn't affect my rating): Amazon sent me the wrong item, the 8x32s instead of the 8x42s, *twice*. After that, I gave up on Amazon and bought them from one of the manufacturer's recommended sites, and shipping was even faster than Prime's.
