Second time purchasing this. Many uses, locking my gate, locker at work and using for my suitcases. Solid and durable

I bought these for a vacation this summer. We had 4 bags with us, 2 would be checked through the airline, and 2 were carry-ons. I wanted to make sure we had locks for all of them for security and in case the airline made us put our carryon bags in the belly of the plane, then they would be locked! I set all four locks to the same combination to make it easy for us to access all bags. Leaving on our trip both our checked bags were accessed by the TSA. We had notices left in our luggage from TSA and the TSA open indicators were tripped, so we knew when we got our luggage at the airport, and before we even opened our bags, that they had been searched. I really like that the TSA has to re-lock it to remove their key, so that my lock is back on my suitcase and not lost. The combination was super easy to set following their clear instructions. For any lock where a combination can be set you have to be very careful when the lock is open that you don't accidentally change the combination. For this one, they have an added step that you have to have the shackle 180-degrees from the locked position to change the combination AND you have to depress the shackle to turn it the full 180 degrees. Not fool-proof but better than most other adjustable combination locks I have used. I also took one of the locks with me during the day to lock my purse zipper against pickpocketing. While this may not work for many purses it worked for mine and as we already had the locks, I didn't have to purchase another one. As far as being pick-proof or a totally secure lock, TSA master key can be purchased by anyone online, and these locks are totally pickable by someone with small lock-picking skills. However, for their intended purpose, these work very well. I very much recommend these locks! I hope you find this review helpful, if so please give it a yes so I know!

Good quality product!

I purchased these right before a trip to the UK, set the combo immediately with no problems. Five stars as it worked flawlessly. Note: if you are not familiar with setting combos on small locks read (and understand) the instructions before attempting to set the combo! I chose these locks for the inspection feature (indicator if it has been opened by TSA key) and that the key could not be removed without re-locking. Note: Apparently the TSA agent that inspected our case found a way around this (explained below). I needed TSA approved locks as as the last time we traveled I was called to open the locks on our bags as they did not have a key (I figured that since I could open it with a paperclip they would do the same or just cut the locks, but to be fair they were being nice and asking me to open them). I don't like having to lock my luggage but it seems to be a necessity now. The last couple of times that I did not lock the luggage I had the zipper partially open on one case when I retrieved it (to give the benefit of the doubt it may have caught on something in transit) and then the zipper pull was damaged on another case (again, could have gotten caught on something). These worked flawlessly until our return trip. Between Las Vegas & LAX it appears that TSA opened the case and as far as I can figure they panicked when they could not get the key out of the lock and managed to break the lock. We found the lock inside of the case broken (the shackle no longer will lock) with the indicator tripped and the note from TSA that the case was inspected. I can still change the combo but the shackle is damaged and cannot be fully seated in the lock. One down, 3 to go...

Great product. Easy to use and well-made.

Appear to be well built. Hopefully these smaller 3-digit locks are less likely to get caught in luggage handling equipment than the larger 4-digit ones.

Travel friendly, compact and good quality

We bought 8 of the Black Forge TSA 3-number combination locks so we have them on all our bags. They are slightly larger and heavier than alternatives, but they are definitely better build quality than the competition. The numbers rotate easily but don't slip, and they are very easy to see unlike cheaper locks. We've been using them for 8 months with no problems. We always put one on the inside of our bags, so if security does damage one, we have another at our destination. These are quality locks.
