Minn Kota MKA-21 Quick Release Bracket for Trolling Motors

First off I rated the install 4 stars because depending on your boat it can be very difficult and require some modification to your boat. I have a Tracker Pro 170 and where this had to mount was virtually impossible with the size hole tracker made to mount anything on the bow. So I had to make the hole bigger without hurting the integrity of the boat. Anyway as for the mount, it is really sturdy and definitely makes it so nice to remove the motor when storing the boat and putting the cover on. The directions were very clear and easy to understand. I used shorter bolts for the pad that mounts to the boat because of the difficulty of trying to reach the forward most bolt, I didn't have the time or patience to be ratcheting for 15 minutes. DO NOT USE AN IMPACT DRIVER!!! I state this because I am really good with tools, however when using this tool to speed up your process, it overheats the ny-lock nut to a point that it won't go on or come off. I had to purposely break the bolt. Thankfully I had spares from my new trolling motor install package. As many have reviewed I too had to drill the holes a little for the u-handle to pass completely through. Maybe a suggestion would be to have them slightly larger to begin with since tightening the pad to the bow throws it of just a tad. So far great product, took the boat out recently and no issues. Time will tell on durability. I live in Az. so the heat is always a killer to everything. Hope you like it as much as I do.

Works great and it saves the cover. I really like being able to put it in the boat when it’s parked so it can’t get bumped or damaged. I don’t spoil myself too much, but this is one that makes me smile every time I use it.

Heavy Duty and well made. It also has an opening for installing a padlock. The reason for the title is that if you ever have to remove the motor for service or warranty support it would be a pain to uninstall by removing the bolts that go through the deck. Possible but a real PIA because the access is or maybe tight as in my case. It would also make removal for winter storage inside if your boat will be outside in cold temps. I was going to knock off a couple of stars because the mounting hardware shipped with unit is not stainless. They are bright coated and will eventually rust. What’s up with that Minn Kota? The motor shipped with stainless steel hardware. Get some stainless steel bolts for the installation.

Works perfect with power drive

As advertised. Shipping was quick. Installation was very easy. I needed a quick disconnect for my 80lbs Thrust Terrova and this worked great. One bar to pull out and the motor is off.
