A Good Overall Introduction of Pollock's Career
I was looking for a book about Jackson Pollock that provided a little of his biography, a little about his approach to art and a little about his paintings. This fit the bill for me. The book has a nice catalog of his artwork, though obviously not everything. Kind of the same for his bio. I wasn't looking for a 400-page deep dive into his life. And after reading this book I really am not looking for much more. This provides a good summary of his life and work to wet an appetite for more. This book is an easy read with a fair amount of his selected artwork to give a good introduction to Jackson Pollock.

Jackson Pollock Art Book
Bought this as a Mother's Day gift for my wife and she loves it. She's a recent "Into Art" student and loves the gallery which exhibits some of Pollock's greatest works. Wife is happy; I'm happy. Thanks much.

Very good book
I wanted to find out more about Jackson Pollock so i looked at many books. Most of them just focused on his work. This one went into his personal life.

Thinner volume than I expected. Ratio of images to narrative just right. Beautiful pictures. This is just one artist of a larger set.

Like many of the Taschen series this is a great introduction to the artist. The book gives a good insight to Pollock and shows how he developed from producing more conventional paintings to his move to his more well known action paintings. The book has some excellent reproductions of many of his famous paintings such as Summertime, One: Number 31, Number 1; 1952 and Autumn Rhythm. Of course for a small book not every painting is reproduced including some of my favourites such as Number 1A; 1948 and Number 23; 1949. And while Pollock's most expensive painting No. 5; 1948 [which famously featured in the film Ex-Machina] is featured it is reproduced very small making it difficult to fully appreciate the detail. Nonetheless the Taschen books do provide a good start for anyone interested in a particular artist. I have several on my bookshelves and have also bought them as much appreciated gifts for my niece who has a developing interest in fine art.
