Most Accurate Weather Station I've Tried
When the weather station arrived and installed I was very pleased. The dual solar panels operated a small fan that cooled the sensor and gave accurate temperatures. The rain gage was accurate as were all the readings. The HD display was nice and had a feature that you could set to turn it off at night. But then one day when I unplugged the display to move it to another location and plugged it back in the display stuck on the opening screen. A quick research revealed this was an ongoing problem with these displays. Long story short, I contacted customer service and explained the issue and pointed out what was being reported on the forums and they replaced the display for free even though it was out of warranty. This is why I still give this unit five stars. I tried two other brands including the highly rated Ambient WS-2000 and I can't understand why it's so highly regarded. It never gives a true "feels like" temperature like my Acurite. But worse, even after five weeks it didn't get a single reading correct. Comparing it to other stations in my neighborhood on Weather Underground as well as the local weather station at the airport they would report barometric pressure dropping while the Ambient would show it rising. Another example, the forecast for local weather was rain for the next five days but the Ambient showed a sunny icon (clear skies) constantly. I realize the manual says its forecasts are only 70% correct but this unit was batting zero. The Acurite, on the other hand, it remarkably accurate in its forecasts and readings which is another reason for the five star review. BTW so many reviewers complain about a lack of battery in the display, but the more expensive and popular Ambient WS-2000 doesn't have one either. And no, you don't lose historical data when the power goes off. The power has to be off several minutes before the clock needs to be reset, but you never lose historical data. All you need to do is set the clock just like you do with your microwave.

Incredible Weather Station - A Must Have...
I know this model has been out for awhile but I have to say it...It's about time the displays with weather stations caught up with the rest of the world. I've been wanting to replace my older weather station for some time...all the while I dreamed of the display's being more graphic and in color. After looking over what Amazon offers...I found some which had the text in color and the forecast in color...however nothing "Wow'd" me in terms of the display until I came across the AcuRite 01024M Pro. Once received I had it installed within a couple days. I couldn't believe how easy it was compared to my older system. What made the installation a breeze (no pun intended lol) was the fact that the sensors are all housed within one unit...unlike the older systems which had at least three separate sensors and wires. It was as simple as attaching the sensor housing to a dowel at the height I wanted and then attach the dowel to the roof. Done. Going back to the display...all I had to do was plug it in and it automatically started the setup process and detected the sensors. In fact I didn't even need to look at the user guide it was so simple. And of course, the display was awesome. I loved the graphics...gives more of a computer feel to it...yet the info is laid out in an orderly fashion and easy to understand. An added plus which I actually love...seeing how the display is always on...is the option to dim the brightness at a specific time in the evening or...to have the display go into a sleep mode at a specific time and wake back up at a specific time. The screen dims and only shows the most important current weather info. If you need to see the main screen you simply press a key and it wakes up. The display goes back to sleep after 15 seconds of the last key press. This is very handy at night. I have mine go to "sleep" shortly after I call it a night, and wake back up about an hour before I get up. Now that is a very clever handy function. This system also updates more frequently when it comes to wind guests than my older system did which means it catches more guests with less data loss. My older system updated every 30 seconds...you can miss vital wind gust info within a 30 second span. So...this was an added plus for me. And lastly, this weather station also detects lightning which is a first for me. On day one after I installed it we had another winter storm push through and behind it heavy showers. This system detected a single lightning strike about 9 miles away...most likely off shore as we live on the coast. You see the lightning alert on both the display and the portable detector. I like how it actually tells you how many miles away the lightning was. To know if lightning is getting closer or moving further away you simply see if the system is reporting lighting with the distance decreasing or increasing. Decreasing means getting closer and increasing moving away. Simple enough. One thing to note, as you look at the included photos, I also have a wired wind gauge which is the small display you see above this weather station's display...and to the left of this stations sensors on my roof. And yes...I also purchased it from Amazon. It's electronic and gives me up to the second wind info...so a more accurate wind reading. While the wireless update window with the AcuRite 01024M Pro is much faster than older systems...there is still some data loss due to the update window it has...which is why I have a second wind gauge...kind of like a back-up system. So...if you're looking for a well put together weather station with clean crisp graphics...and in color to boot...I highly recommend this system. I'm very happy with my purchase and look forward to tracking the remaining winter storms of 2017 as they push through our area. Hope this review helps you to make your decision....

Cheap junk.
Station works fine. Unfortunately, it does not connect top Weather Underground. I didn't figure this out until the unit was installed and working. Disappointing. A real POS. The lightening module has never worked. In todays thunderstorm, the rain gauge stopped working. I bought a different monitor so that I could connect to weather Underground. It arrived with the antenna broken. When I contacted Acurite, they want me to go through a laborious process to get a replacement under warranty. I mean it came broken! I had a similar model of this weather station which I bought a couple of years ago. It worked like a champ and endured. This one is cheap crap. My advice is to stay away.

HIgh Quality
Easy to set up. Directions are easy to follow. Placement of the outdoor station is important for accurate readings. The lightning detector was a bit more difficult to find a appropriate placement. The interior screen is easy to read. The page shows indoor/outdoor and an overview of the weather. Provides much more information than the average person might require, but I am thrilled with the purchase.

We've had this since May (it's July 26 now) and it does a nice job recording rain fall, temperatures, humidity, lightning and we have it a good 100+ feet away from the receiver screen. The lightning thing is neat. We've got hits as far as 38km and I think 1km is it's closest showing. During the heat wave it recorded a temp of 39 in the yard, which was right in line with the old mercury thermometer. The rain meter seems to send updates every 15 minutes or so. Cause it will go from 0 to say 1.6 after it has rained for a bit. Then it jumps to the next reading. So it's not "realtime" but it kinda is. The wind direction works good. The wind speed, hard to say how spot on it is. We've had some pretty big wind storms this year and had a high reading of 28kph. News claimed 50k gusts. Maybe it just goes by "sustained" wind speed. Overall I think it's good value. The screen is nice and easy to read and changes to the light or dark and even has pics of the current and upcoming weather. Like before it gets cloudy, it has showed clouds and rain on the display even though it's sunny. But 30-60 minutes later it becomes cloudy out. Pretty neat trick. There's cheaper and more expensive ones out there. Got this on "sale" for bout $280. We shall see how it handles -40 this winter. Lol Oh I also have it bout 20 feet above ground.

Todo correcto, lo único para hacer notar es que si se va la luz se pierde la memoria con los datos anuales, mensuales, semanales y tiene que volver a aprender

There are too many good things to say about the Acurite weather station there isn’t enough space to put them. Very accurate rainfall, the last thunderstorm we had 220 lightening strikes from 1-23 miles away. All this is kept in its multiple memory log which is interesting to go back in time and see what had happened on any particular day. Inside and outside temps are spot on....it just goes on and on!

I received the kit today, and everything looked pretty good. I'm a bit concerned that there's no rubber gasket/seal around the battery door, but nobody else's reviews mention the batteries getting wet. Hopefully it's fine, but I may add one for good measure. I powered on the display, but it didn't default to the setup screen like the manual said it should, and showed no readings from the sensor. I manually ran through the display setup and added the sensor, which it found, but it still wouldn't show any readings. I then ran through a factory reset and it started back up with the initial setup steps. Immediately upon finishing this setup, it was showing readings from the sensor assembly, which it automatically connected to. I then went to calibrate the rain gauge. After a few 1 cup calibration runs, I found that it was not completely consistent, but still averaged very close to what it should according to the manual (1.06") and only ranged by about 5% in the tests. No adjustments needed, good stuff. So, onto the concerns about it losing all settings from brief power outages. After setting it up, I left it unplugged for the better part of an hour, and it still retained its settings. There doesn't need to be such a major concern as there seems to be some level of built-in storage capacitance that keeps the settings in place for some time. However, for those like me who can have power outages on the order of many hours and who want to be able to watch the weather figures during storms, there is an option. The display operates off of 5V DC, which is also the standard USB voltage. You can use a power bank and a USB to DC plug cable to run the display. There are a few things to consider, though: 1) The power bank needs to have pass through capabilities (charge and discharge simultaneously) and maintain the output with minimal or no dropouts when the input power is lost and returned. I'm using the top USB port on a RAVpower RP-PB010 and it works well without any dropout whatsoever when pulling the input power (i.e., acts as a true UPS for that port), and would technically run the display for about two days straight with its capacity. 2) A power bank with lithium ion batteries probably shouldn't be used for this type of 'always plugged in' configuration unless it has overload/overtemp protection and a metallic case for good measure (such as the RAVpower unit noted). 3) The display draws about 280 to 300mA of current, and it doesn't vary at all when the display is dimmed or in sleep mode. Almost all power banks disable their outputs if the load current is too low. Most (like the RAVpower) work fine at 280mA, but there's a chance that some might not. There are still options even if they do, but it would mean adding a load resistor if you're handy. 4) You'd need a USB type A (standard fullsize USB) to 3.5mm x 1.35mm DC cable with center positive *and 90 degree angled plug end*. The angle is important to be able to seat it properly in the back of the display. Overall, it seems like a decent unit. Time will tell once I put it through a brutal Saskatchewan winter, and I'll update my review at some point in the future. EDIT: After a few months in operation, I had issues with the anemometer bearings seizing up. Cleaning and lubricating helped for about a day, but there must have been a bad bearing. Acurite was quick to approve a replacement anemometer/aspiration and expedited it, and I'm back in action. Although some have claimed that their customer service is poor, my experience has actually been quite positive.

My husband and I are boaters and outdoor enthusiasts and check the weather daily as it impacts what we are doing - especially when heading out boating. This little weather station is full of information and is fun to keep an eye on for wind speed, temperature, both indoor and outdoor, and trends. We haven’t yet installed the lightening detector as it’s winter right now,but I anticipate that too, will be interesting to have. Easy to set up and quality is good. Would recommend to anyone purchasing a weather station for amateur weather watchers.
