Product is great, how it is shipped was not
This was my mom’s go to product before her community switched from septic to city sewer lines and it always worked well for her. I never thought I would need it until I finished my basement with a bathroom that has to use a sump pump and small 5-gallon well in order to pump the sewage up and out to the city sewer system. Initially had an issue with half the bottle being spilled out in the box, which AMZ made right. Although I am not sure why there is no seal on the bottle as others have stated. In this case, I only need a small amount per treatment as this normally can treat large septic systems for 6 months. I like the fact that it is more of a natural product than chemical, which is better for me and the environment. Based on previous experience with this product, it does a great job at breaking down waste, including toilet paper. My biggest issue though really is keeping the smell of the sump pump area manageable, which this product also does well. In this case, I flush a small amount down the basement toilet, wait 24 hours and it is good to go after that. In this case, the sump pump takes care of the rest, versus a septic system that you need to get pumped every so many months/years. Over time, this helps maintain a healthier system and, in my case, a cleaner sump pump well and sump pump, which helps with its long-term healthy operation. The product itself gets 4 stars, the package and shipping 1 star. 4 stars

Pretty sure it works
I can only assume this works great in our septic tank, we’ve never had any issues. Originally we started using it because our house is near a lake and wanted to make sure we being protective of the water. We put it in the toilet every month.

Great price
I don't know if this product really dissolves toilet paper and waste, I don't really want to check, but it works right away to stop sewer smell. I don't think my lids seal well, as after tank pumping and filter washing it stinks. As soon as I received this with 2-day Prime, I put 8 oz. in and the odor stopped. The septic company rep. stated that the system will work by itself and additives are a waste of money. I have used this product in the past and never had septic problems so I will continue. It did solve the odor problem right away and that was worth it. This bottle requires shaking and an 8 oz. measure. It provides 6 doses at ~ $3 a dose. That is not bad. The powder envelopes are about $4 a dose, but the 'drop-in packs' are the most expensive and most convenient. Anything I can do to prevent a septic problem is worth the small cost. I think monthly doses are best as washing machine chemicals likely kill off some of the bacteria, such as chlorine and things like Lysol, etc. I do recommend once a year filter washing if you have two compartments, and mainly two people use it, twice a year for more people/use/kids. It is very easy to do yourself, but what you pay can help prevent the inconvenience of a nasty back-up problem. It never happens at a convenient time!! Pumping the tank about every 4-6 years depending on use, and how much food you dispose of (you shouldn't, especially grease and lettuce), will help prolong the life of your drainfield. This product is highly recommended by me.

Avoiding A Chain Reaction
I have been using Rid-X for a very long time. Obviously, I have a septic system that I want to be problem free under any circumstances. It is especially important in my case because my house is 41 years old (as is the septic tank) which may not be unique in its own right. However, I have 3 acres; and 90% of the property is considered wetlands. The leaching fields are as old as the tank; and have never had to be replaced. I get the tank drained once a year to preserve the stability of the fields not only because of their age; but because the underground water content is extraordinarily high (hence the wetlands designation). There is an installed (1977 when house was built) pond in the front of the house that is exclusively fed by underground streams to keep the land dry. The pond is full of fish etc.; and visited frequently by ducks, Canadian geese, a variety of heron etc.. I apologize for the large amount of detail; but it was necessary in order that you understand the need for (and prompt delivery) of a product like Rid-X. The likelihood that damage or failure of the system could occur on a gradual and unnoticed basis is a very real possibility. And this damage or failure sets off (possibly) a chain reaction from system to leaching fields to underground streams to pond to wildlife. It simply can't happen.

Poop review
Who reads reviews for a product that is meant to break down your poop? Come on people. It's rid x. You dump it down the toilet, then enzymes swim in your feces and break down the solids. It's not rocket science, it's fecal science. To make sure your septic system works as it should, the enzymes are needed and this definitely does add enzymes. If you don't get your tank pumped, it will eventually fail. Set a reminder in your phone and just add the amount on the bottle, flush and go. I always wish them good luck as they go down. But seriously, if you need a review before you buy rid x, just get a house with city sewer and let them deal with your movements.
