Needs better instructions on how to use
I have a not yet verbal autistic child and thought that since this is designed for autistic children that maybe I'd give it a try. I like that it's rechargeable, that it's sized like a toothbrush, food grade silicone is a plus. I didn't find any instructions on how to actually use this tool though. It turns on/off/vibrates and the dull head is a safety feature I like so it doesn't scratch the child. It seems like it would be effective if properly used, but my kid just thought it was a new toothbrush, so no added benefits that I can see. Decent value for the money for what it is. All is all intrigued but need more research on proper use.

A very useful tool for my "bag of tricks" as a Speech Language Pathologist
This review is written by a licensed and certified speech language pathologist working with the pediatric population. This appears to be an upgrade of the previous Sensi by TalkTools, as this green Sensi is rechargeable. The rechargeable feature is very nice because it is not only does it eliminate the need to keep a stockpile of batteries, it also eliminates some of the problems regarding broken battery caps that I noticed in reviews when I first researched the Sensi tool 9 or 10 months ago. Additionally the rechargeable battery is just plain convenient. The Sensi actually recharges with a magnetic connector. I like this for a couple of reasons. First, when I need to use it, it is easy to grab one-handed, even if it was recharging at the time. Second, a magnetic connection helps with cleaning the Sensi tool since it doesn't create a port or hole into the body of the device that I need to be concerned about getting wet, which makes it easy to wipe down with disinfectant after use. Note that TalkTools recommends that each client should have their own tip(s). Although the tips can be cleaned and sanitized between uses, the softer materials make it more hygienic for each individual tip to be reserved for use by only 1 client. As for the actual use of the Sensi tool, there are 4 vibration settings - low continuous, high continuous, low pulsing, and high pulsing. While fiddling around with it when I first received it, I held it in one hand and placed the chewy tip that came with it on my other hand. I was initially concerned because I felt the vibration so much more in the hand that was holding the Sensi and barely felt anything in the hand the tip was touching, so I thought it wasn't working correctly. But if I held the chewy tip between my thumb and forefinger and let it dangle without holding it with my other hand, I could feel the vibration better. When I tried touching the tip to my cheek or lip, I could definitely feel the vibration. Even as a professional, sometimes I forget how sensitive our oral tissues can be! It is very important to slowly introduce the Sensi to each client, especially very young clients or clients with hypersensitivity. The Sensi is a great tool to help clients become more aware of their mouth posture and the placement of their articulators. Some clients are quite hyposensitive in their oral tissues and the Sensi can help ""wake up"" their proprioception to assist them in proper tongue and lip placement for speech sounds, as well as help them use the correct level of tension. While I knew this was a base kit and would not come with a wide assortment of tips, I was disappointed to realize that it only came with 1 chewy tip and did NOT come with the spoon tip that is shown in the 4th picture (the picture that demonstrates that tips can be inserted on both sides of the tube). I think that photo was a little misleading, especially since the same picture shows the USB cable and magnetic charging attachment that comes in the kit, so it gives the appearance that all the items in that photo, including the spoon tip, are included in the base kit. While that was somewhat confusing and a little disappointing, it was not a big enough deal to drop a star from my rating. I think that the TalkTools Sensi is a great addition to my toolbox of tips, tricks, and tools to help my clients achieve better communication skills, including addressing articulation errors and increasing their intelligibility. I have one final note to share. I am seeing many reviews for the Sensi that are written by parents and I encourage any parent who purchases a Sensi or similar item to reserve it to be used as a tool with a specific purpose and under supervision. While it is completely safe to be used as directed and under close supervision, it shouldn't be given to a child as a general toy or something they are free to chew on whenever or however they feel.

Strong vibrations used as an oral therapy tool .
Wow I ordered this 4 months ago, I was honestly surprised when it arrived. But I am so delighted with the Sensi. To describe why I ordered this tool, my son suffered an annoxic brain injury 3 years ago. He has finally began learning how to speak again. He is beginning to show more advanced tongue movements while eating. He doesn't have a therapist at his facility because she says he doesn't meet her criteria. So I have been reading books, watching videos, and trying to learn how to be a therapist so that I can help my son. That's where Sensi came in. This tool has multiple attachments the set o ordered only had the blue bumpy stick. Looks a little like a tooth brush. It vibrates, and has 4 vibrations settings. By using the nub stick to gentlely touch parts of his tongue the vibrations makes that spot feel alive. I can then direct him where to put his tongue to make a specific sound. Like the tip to make the r sounds. Another thing i noticed that after using the vibrations in his mouth he seems more aware of different parts of his mouth. He sucks from a straw better, he is able to move food from side too side more easily. This helps prevent from choaking on his food. While I am still only feeding him apple sauce, and pureed fruits since he is still on tube feed. I also want to say that this item is made from superb materials. The quality of the food grade silicone is amazing. I feel compleatly safe using this on my son. I am looking to purchasing some of the other attachments as well. Also this has a magnetic charging through a c to usb. Making the item easy to clean. I can't thank talk tools enough. This is not the first product I have purchased from them. High quality safe products that therapist trust and mom's can use as well.

The item is defective when I showed it to the speech therapist it does not close with battery and there is a high pitch sound coming from the tool which affect sensory processing by distracting my child. Unfortunately this product cannot be returned so its a complete waste of money. Must not be an original product if this is defective
