Prestacycle Schrader Head Review: Looking for a barb end shraeder hose adapter, on desertcart I could only find this unit and a Silca brand. My first impression was to go with the Silca, as they have been around forever, make high quality parts, and their connector was nickle plated brass. This adapter is listed as 6061 -T6 aluminum, which sounds impressive, but really is the most common form of aluminum used, and has about 1/2 the hardness and strength of 6065 Aluminum. And is a stretch to say it is as 'strong' as brass, as there are a dozen or so ways of measuring strength. 7075-T7 maybe, but not 6061. But then, reality set in: My wallet already hemorrhages money into my TRI bike without needing an additional outlet! The Silca adapter is 2 1/2 times the price of this unit, plus another 7 dollars shipping if I don't want to wait 2 weeks. And 6061 aluminum is probably just fine in my application, where the barb will be secured in a hose, and a pig tail chuck threaded onto the connector will never be removed until something fails. Not like the alloy is meant for use in a spoke nipple or disk brake wheel hub. So without a lot of mechanical flexing, I figured this would be just fine for my use. It arrived in a sealed zip lock bag, was nicely finished, inserted easily into the hose and secured nicely with the plastic hose clamp I bought at the hardware store. The shraeder valve chuck I attached threaded on nicely, without binding, and there were no leaks. It probably isn't as strong as the Silca, but it is a LOT less expensive, and seems just fine for my purposes. Review: très bien

The product was what I was looking for however the barb is smaller than advertised. I am hoping it will work for my project. Not a air pump.

After struggling with lock-on presto hose heads, I decided to use this product. Problem of airing my bike tires solved. Compared to the lock-on type, this works effortlessly with a minimal loss of air pressure when unscrewing the head. Simple & secure. Installed it on an old Schwinn pump replacing the lock on head. Now it's a pleasure, not a pain to gas up the tires.
