I bought this video game as a birthday present for my husband, and it was already on his wishlist — so it was a guaranteed hit! He’s absolutely thrilled with it, and I have to say, watching him enjoy it so much makes it worth every penny. The graphics, gameplay, and overall quality are fantastic. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition. We’re both very happy with this purchase — highly recommend it for anyone looking to surprise a gamer in their life!

Dreams is a game creation and sharing tool that allows you to make your own games and share them with others. Whether you're a game developer, a gamer, or both, there's so much on offer here. While you can't monotise your creations, it's a good way of getting those creative juices flowing in the meantime and testing out proofs of concept, and just making something that people will enjoy for a few minutes. The community is friendly from my experience, all providing encouragement, reviews, helpful feedback and bug reports, and seeing everyone inspire each other during the creative process is something Media Molecule deserve praise for acheiving. This community of game creators and artists getting their start, or just people in general making what they would enjoy experiencing. As a game, this is perfect for anyone with a low income, looking for hours of entertainment from bite-sized experiences. While not all creations are winners, and some have clearly less effort put into them than others, Dreams is still worth a purchase for those truly outstanding games. As a massive fan of 3D platformers, I've been impressed by just how many high-quality games people have made, some rivaling the likes of A Hat in Time and Super Mario in terms of control and level design. Dream Surfing is most of the reason I own this game, be it to find something I know I'll like, or be surprised by some weird, unique or unconventional creations that others have made. Media Molecule have made their own creations to help inspire others, of course. Ranging from small bite-sized games to a full-blown single-player campaign called Art's dream, that shifts genres from 3D platformer to point & click adventure, to on-rails action. It's incredibly well-made, uses the medium of games as a storytelling device to far better effect than all of Sony's other western triple-A offerings these past 8 years, and is enjoyable enough to go for 100% completion. All in all, Dreams is one of the best PS4 exclusives, and one of the only worthwhile western offerings owned by Sony themselves in recent memory. No matter who you are, you will likely find something in Dreams that suits your tastes. And if you don't, you have all the tools you need to make it yourself. This really is great value for money, and it's a shame Sony doesn't realise what a fantastic tool Mm have created here. Buy it, play it, create with it, and share in your enthusiasm with others.

Good game, but its hard to specify who this game is aimed at. The mini games that the game has you go through to understand how to make 'Dreams' is kind of childish, yet when you actually go into making a dream, it's technical and confusing at times.

No idea on the content of the game as unfortunately was sent a copy intended for sale in the Middle East and Africa only. Returned for refund.

For some reason the closer Dreams got to release the less Sony seemed to be promoting it bar maybe one or two short trailers here and there. Im not sure what they were afraid of? I've seen very little exposure of this game from lets players on Youtube also causing this game to fly under the radar somewhat. So What Is Dreams? In essence dreams is a video game development tool. Ever wanted to create your own video game but didnt have the software or means to do so? Well now you do. You can pretty much make any style of game you like, 8bit Mario 90s style, Sonic Adventure from the Dreamcast days or create your own original RPG or arcade racer. Maybe you dont even want to create a game but a highly detailed English Breakfast (Yes someone has made that) Not only can you create games you can also play other peoples creations. Media Molecule have made their very own game using only the creation tools they provide to give an idea of whats possible with the software. This essentially is the campaign mode centered around a Bass musician "Art" who leaves his Band and falls into a depressive state. It deals with some rather mature subject matter but is balanced out when you enter Art's dreams and play as his childhood toys Frances and Foxy Fox who battle his inner demons. Its at this point the game switches to an action adventure platformer then shortly after it turns into a point & click puzzle, then an interactive musical, then more platforming as another character from Arts memories and much more. It cycles through various genres and types of game as the story progresses. The main story is around 3 hours long and really shows whats possible with the creation tools. Creating Your Own Dreams While Media Molecule have made it much more accessible to create your own game you will still need a level of creativity and patience to learn how to use all the tools especially if you want to create a competent game that others will play. I havent had much time to attempt this yet but i can tell from other peoples creations that they have put hours and hours of work into them and thats just for one level. But if you're someone who is interested in video game development or want to study it then this is a must have title for the PS4. Playing Dreams Made By Others Dream Surfing mode is where you'll find creations made by the community. You can find just about any style of game you can think of with lots of weirdness mixed inbetween. Some highlights include: Pip Gemwalker - A puzzle solving platformer with a cute bear that collects gems. Art Therapy - A mini game set in a museum where the objective is to destroy as much priceless art as possible. Project Ikelos - An ambitious Dark Souls esque slasher. Ommy Kart - A mario kart style racer with power ups and all. Sonic Adventure: Dreams Edition - A promising Sonic game with responsive controls. Green Guy & Bo Duet - An adorable short musical animation. And much more from ridiculous Spongebob animations to Asparagus Stand up comedy... Its all very weird and surreal at times and thats part of the charm. Being able to see inside someones head is a truely unique experience. Limitations of Creations & Expectations There does seem to be atleast some restrictions on what can be made. For example i dont think it will be possible to have an extremely detailed main character and environment and huge open world. Certain sacrifices will have to be made depending on what kind of game you are creating. You also shouldnt expect every dream you play to have fluid controls and mechanics. Video game development is hard and some of these creations are just being made by normal people. A lot of the time the experience is more about just admiring the world someone has created. You might only spend 5 minutes in the dream before moving onto the next one but its still interesting. Thats not to say there arent some competent creations out there however such as the titles mentioned earlier which i would hazard a guess these people making them have atleast some development experience. Everything is a work in progress at this point and only time will tell what can really be made in dreams but im giving it 5 stars on the amount of potential it has and the fact it launched at only £35.99 which isnt bad for a new release these days. So if any of that interests you in the slightest i say buy it, the more people that play the more potential it has.
