I used it on hardened stainless plates. I was very impressed with the quality for the price. I used several stamps several times, and they remained sharp and like new. If you are not using everyday. And just need a decent set for random things. This brand makes good stuff. I would even use everyday if needed. - advice--- Make sure you have a heavy metal plate under the item being stamped. You can use a thin film to prevent scratching on the underside of the item. BUT... A heavy metal plate under the object really helps to stamp well. I just happen to own a very large stainless steel block that is two inches thick. This solid backing makes for great stamping. A nice, heavy, anvil-like item creates a solid hit. Making the stamp item look much better, especially when stamping hard metals. Even items like brass look better if you get a solid hit that doesn't reflect or bounce.

There are good low budget stamps. For this low price I got exactly as I’d expected. As a skilled metal stamper these definitely aren’t high quality metal stamps however they work and are perfect for when I don’t want to use my expensive stamps. These will work on aluminum, copper and brass but definitely not stainless steel. Another reviewer mentioned 1 hammer strike don’t leave a complete impression, metal stamping requires more than one hammer strike on most metal stamps unless they’re tiny 1mm or 1.5mm stamps. If you’re just starting out practice on aluminum, that is the softest metal. I do recommend these for those that need low budget stamps. The stamps do not have the letter engraved on the sides of the stamps, I just used a skinny permanent marker to write the letters on each stamp.
