Great for beginners
This was a gift for our grandson. It is 3 months later and he still uses it almost daily and has had no issues. If you are new to wood burning and trying decide, this is a great started machine. I strongly recommend a wire tip machine over the metal tips. This holds the heat. Much better and allows for a much smoother piece of art

Loved it while it lasted!
I bought this in 2022 an have only used it 3 times my third time i didn't get to finish my project because the wiring melted an kept the tip feom heating up. Guess I should just be thankful I can replace the Nib pen cheaply. Honestly thought this was a higher quality.

Very impressed with this budget friendly wood burner, ive had a few and this one takes the cake so far. Love the holder, the variability of adjusting the heat, and the build quality of the tips. So good so far!

An Intensive Review
Introduction I purchased this wood burner during the last week of November. As an amateur wood burner, my previous experience was limited to using a solid tip burner. My main interest in this new purchase was to determine if a nib burner would be easier to use and improve my wood burning projects. Initial Impressions After my first attempt with the nib burner, my opinion aligned with that of other reviewers: the temperature inconsistency makes it extremely difficult to control, which can render the product nearly unusable. Anticipating potential issues, I had purchased a warranty at the time of purchase, so I felt comfortable experimenting with the machine despite its temperature challenges. Learning Experience Having only used a solid point burner before, I had no prior experience with nib tip models. This alone justified the cost of the machine, as it provided valuable hands-on experience. I began to learn how to use different nibs for shading and detailing. I found the pen’s design superior to the solid tip model because it is slimmer, foam covered, and more comfortable to hold. The improved grip allows me to get closer to the nib without the risk of burning myself. Additionally, the nibs heat up and cool down quickly, which makes changing them easy and convenient. Tips for Use When changing nibs, it is important to tighten the screws gently. The goal is to secure the nib with just slight pressure. Over-tightening can indent the wire legs of the nib, which may cause an electrical buzzing sound, as noted by another reviewer. It is crucial to keep the wire legs straight to avoid this issue. Overall Assessment For $40, this machine is more than sufficient for amateur wood burners like myself. While temperature inconsistency is a notable issue, I managed it by always testing the tip on a scrap piece of wood before working on my actual project. If the tip was too hot, I would lower the temperature, wait about 30 seconds, and test again. If it was too cold, I would increase the temperature, wait, and retest. This machine is not intended for continuous, long-term use. During my projects, I would work for a while, then turn it off to take breaks for meals or other activities. The quick heating and cooling of the nibs made these interruptions manageable. Value Considerations Professional kits can cost upwards of $800, while mid-range kits are typically $200 or more. This machine offers a good compromise, enabling quality work without a significant financial investment, as long as you are patient and willing to make the necessary adjustments as discussed above.

Beginner friendly
Total beginner, but this wood burner really did all the work for me!! I did use a Kotto fan that I had for when I solder to absorb and remove the fumes, that helped a ton!!! For the price, this is awesome, ready for more complicated projects, trying to add some shadows and accents!! With all the different tips it came with I am confident I will find many more uses!

Works like butter!!!
So I was given a woodburning kit for beginners for Christmas present. So I took it out and played with it. I made a stencil and burned it and went back in water colored what I wanted, and something told me to try and upgrade one so I did I bought the above. What an unbelievable, terrific fantastic unbelievable burning kit with nibs. I am in shock from the beginner one to this one. It’s like night and day.. so smooth so crisp. It’s like having charcoal pencils in your hand and you’re doing a piece of artwork. The same thing you would do sketching you do with the different tips and the different degrees of temperature and take your time and it’s just incredible.. so worth the money, easy instructions good quality of the machinery and the tools that go with it. I’m so happy that I took a liking to the first kit that I had with the screw in copper headpieces that were just like screwdriver looking things like angled pieces of fat copper that was cut anyhow upgrading to this I was almost putting it in my head. I was gonna return it after trying it it couldn’t be that great of a thing. Well, I was severely wrong. It is a great thing. Excellent tool and this is engaging me deeper into moving forward with this type of crafting..

Good for a beginner
Good for a first time user. Takes some time to warm up but once you turn it on it works well

Not working as advertised. Grrr
Nibs don't get hot. If they do, only one side. Its now making a buzzing sound, which didn't before. My nibs are clean. Everything hooked up correctly. I truly want my money back. I am in a middle of a project that I can't finish. Very aggravating.
