I lay pallet loads of LVP flooring and I am always looking for a gadget / tool to make installing around obstacles easier. This gauge is way better than the ones I've bought at the local Home D store simply due to the locking lever that locks in the pattern so you don't change that pattern when transferring it to the piece of wood or flooring you're working on. Still... like all gadget tools... these require a bit of patience and skill. I highly recommend watching a few YouTube videos before actually trying to use this. Setting the pattern, and transferring that pattern is easy... knowing where to start transferring... what edge do you sign things up with... how deep is the pattern... etc.. it takes some time to get the kinks worked out of the transferring and aligning part. Overall... after using it for an entire day... I got the hang of it, but I can;'t say if it honestly saved me any time. I've been using a "cheaper" board to transfer about 75% of obstacles from the walls to the flooring I need to cut.... where this gauge comes in handy is when the obstacle is round... think toilet flange sticking up past the level of the floor surface... then this tool shines... as long as you correctly sign up the pattern with the piece you're cutting. Overall, this is well built, it holds up to job site use, and the locking tab absolutely sets this one apart from imitations....

Things great, they made the gauge have an angle so that when it makes its shape, you pull the metal lever and it locks the impression in place and the angles allows you to pencil the shape with ease. Nice touch. It helped me make some awkward tub line cut out outs on foam board and nailed in on the first try. Pro or a person who just fixes things. It is one of those tools that you will feel so glad that you have it.

What an easy tool to use! I ended up getting this to guide me while replacing floors in my camper. Lots of corners and small tight spaces. This was really accurate and helpful. It can be used for many other things as well. Handy tool.

This contour gauge can be locked in position, which makes easier to store the profile while working on the reproduction in wood or metal if you have lost or cannot access the original shape. I recommend it.

Works great - I chose this one after borrowing a friend’s who had a different brand (don’t remember the name sorry) and while it contoured around whatever you wanted easily - it crucially didn’t have a lock mechanism (to keep the shape of what you are drawing out for cutting) I found while not unusable - the other contour gauge (without this lock mechanism) would often get slightly bumped out of place if I wasn’t able to cut the material in situ (right there and then) which as I do most of my cutting at a bench outside wasn’t ideal. This one comes with the tiny hex bar for adjusting the resistance of the contour ‘strips’ (for lack of a better word) though would have been nice to have this housed somewhere on the gauge (comes taped to the underside when you receive the item in its box). But the lock mechanism is the start of the show - which is integral to the gauge and is not another thing to lose If you haven’t invested in a hex multitool of differing sizes - it’s probably time to - I have and it’s worth its weight in gold from assembling flat pack furniture to keeping my bike fittings tight and squared away to DIY projects etc. it’s why the loose hex key/bar that comes with this isn’t really a significant minus in my books - but if you haven’t got a multitool of various sized hex bars handy - you’ll need to keep the little one provided extra safe. I can see some projects - particularly if you’re contour gauging something that bends easily - like a thin plastic container for example - needing the contour strips quite loose so they do their job without pushing too hard or morphing the object you want it to measure around. Overall - really happy and worth looking at the seller options for a keen price as it does seem the Saker Contour Guage can vary in price by quite a bit. Hope this info helps 👍
