Breath clean fresh air not dust or chemicals
I feed hay to our cows using hay bags. I was having allergic reactions to all the dust. I purchased this respirator mainly because of the price not really expecting it to work very well. BOY WAS I SURPRISED!!!! This keeps a positive air pressure in the mask so you’re not rebreathing your stale air. The filter works very well so all you get is clean fresh air every breath :)

a brilliantly engineered affordable device
Whoever in Shenzen designed this product has done the rest of us a great service because the device is affordable, reliable and amazingly effective. It combines commodity components like a high-velocity fan and repurposed KN-95 face masks in a simple, generously equipped package that works extremely well. I used a portable air quality sensor to test the effectiveness of this filter earlier this week when Philadelphia, where I live, was blanketed for several days with dangerously dense smoke from forest fires in Quebec to our north. Before trusting my lungs to this little filter, I did a test by filling a Ziploc bag outdoors with smoky air. I put a portable air-quality detector in the bag and measured PPM 2.5 of about 280, which would’ve made me choke if I hadn’t been wearing a different (bulky but known-safe) respirator to conduct the test. I inserted the hose from this $40 powered filter into the Ziploc bag and zipped it mostly shut. Within 60 seconds or so, the bag had been completely flushed as the PPM dropped to zero. Sorry I didn’t record a video but I was more concerned with my safety and hadn’t been planning to post a review. With this unit I was able to do hours of work outside during the worst of the smoke storm, and the only time I smelled the wretched stuff was when I went outside having forgotten to turn on the fan. I had to keep the power level at two and sometimes three (full power) to keep all traces of smoke away from my lungs, especially after the wind picked up. This little thing was amazing from start to finish, and I found it far easier to breathe with the filter’s positive pressure compared to using my own effort to suck air through a conventional mask. I’m sad to need it, yet I’m thrilled to have found a reliable source of breathable air.

Pretty good! But be careful.
The machine is great, it has worked wonders, and thankfully hasn't malfunctioned, my unit came sturdy and without error, I'd still be cautious, though. It doesn't warn you when it shuts off, I've personally never really had issues with the fan speed being too slow but again, mine came in flawless so it's probably an issue with different units, the hose does kink sometimes, but if you're gentle and mindful of it, you won't really run into too many issues. My current living situation isn't great and there's a lot of mold I can't reach so I've had to resort to buying different PAPR devices, and the HEPA filters that come with do actually work, good protection. I will say, the masks that come with the machine aren't that good, not only are they thin, they also fog glasses easily. I'd recommend just tracing the hole of those on a different mask and cutting that hole so you can attach the machine to it.

Flux core, Grinding, Welding
The apparatus works exactly as described. I prefer to use the second level of air flow because the battery will not last the longest on the third level of flow. The mini air filter that goes in the unit is genius and lasts. The air hose is designed to stay strait and not kink, kinking will greatly reduce air flow. Unit is included with a lanyard and a arm band with Velcro attachments. I prefer the arm band to keep the box as far away from the weld area as possible. If you plan on using this a whole ten hour shift you should consider buying two as the battery is not removable. A worthy and life saving product. FLUX CORE SMOKE WILL REDUCE THE TIME RATING OF EACH REPLACEABLE FILTER, REPLACE WHEN SEVERELY DISCOLORED OR AIR FLOW IS RESTRICTED. Play Safe. J.C.

Improper design and use of materials render this product useless
It charged up and started fine. I was able to assemble it properly. The mask fit ok. And that is the end of what works on this product. The fan is tiny and provides very little in the way of air flow to the mask causing one to constantly over-breathe its capacity. The material on the hose is far too thin causing it to collapse, completely blocking any tiny air flow that does exist. This happens constantly no matter what position you try to use it in. The product might work if I sat perfectly still in a meditative position, minimizing my breathing, with the hose taped in a perfect position so that it won't collapse. But for real world use, this simply does not work. Cannot work. This is very disappointing because it would be relatively easy to design and build a product that works properly. The technology here is extremely simple; A battery powered fan, paper filter, hose and mask.

Filtering works well, usability poor
This works decently, but due to a few usability concerns it is not very reliable. I tested that this does, in fact, clean the air. I used a particle meter and an ultrasonic mister. I verified that when the source air had ~600ug/L of PM10 particulates, the output air had 0ug/L of measured PM10. So, the filtration part of this does in fact work. However, as other reviewers have noted, there are a few issues: - No warning before device turns off - this is huge. When the device runs out of batteries, it just stops. It should beep to alert the user some time before actually turning off. Otherwise, you may be breathing unfiltered air. It *should* fall back to the protection of the mask that you're using, but the torque of the air hose likely disrupts the seal and means that you're not getting nearly as much protection. - Hose easily collapses - I haven't found this to typically restrict airflow too much, but it would be better to use an anti-kink hose - Filter side of device is flat, so when wearing as a lanyard, it easily suctions on to clothes, blocking flow - No indicator to change the filter - the manual recommends 500 hours, the device could easily have a light for to tell you when this is needed - Hose friction-fits onto the device and mask lug, which is not very secure. If the hose falls off, you are breathing unfiltered air. These should have a positive locking mechanism. With all that said, I am still using this, as there are not very many options for PAPRs. But I am cautious when using it, and even then these problems make this device less safe.

Great purchase for people with allergies.
Have a large shed that the rats took over. Everything was covered in rat piss, the smell was so strong I couldn't even stand to be in there more than a minute. I have bad allergies to that sort of thing as well. This mask made me able to do the job easy, no bad smell, no allergies. Bought two of them. Very good purchase. The only drawback is the tube kinks easy but still works well enough kinked.
