Knuckle saver
This tool is awesome. I had never used one of these before, but wish I had bought it years ago. I used it when I was working on a mini cooper. The task would have been almost impossible without it. It is high quality, easy to use, and EXTREMELY convenient and a MUST have for working in tight spaces.

Solid tool for dealing with spring clamps
Not wanting a cheap tool but not wanting to pay for a snap-on, I ordered this to deal with some heater core spring clamps that are nearly impossible get off. This tool is very sturdy and took them off and put them on easily. It is well made and feels like it will last.

Worth Every Penny
I had a radiator job to do on my stupid Chrysler Pacifica and was looking up various 'need to have' tools. The internet kept mentioning a ratcheting hose clamp wrench, and at first glance I couldn't figure out how this thing would work before buying it. Mayhew kept popping up as a recommended brand. I am generally a very big believer in "buy once, cry once," and if nobody is willing to buy quality tools, then nobody will make them, and then we all lose. The only setback of this tool existing is engineers at places like Chrysler (really all the auto makers) take that into account when they design their vehicles such that hose clamps are in, quite literally, impossible to reach places - unless you have one of these. This amazing, incredible, miraculous tool 100% saved my bacon doing the radiator. I quite literally could not have done the job without it. The ratcheting feature is particularly amazing, as it locks into to place holding the hose clamp open, and then with now TWO free hands (cause the cable is so long you can set the tool down), you can work the hose clamp down, work the hose loose, etc. It's amazing.

Best hose clamp tool period
Been using in a professional setting and am very happy with the workmanship and sturdiness of the tool. Best hose clamp tool without paying the tool truck price but it's still better than the ones on all the trucks.

Used a couple times, a useful tool!
I used this when I removed / installed some hoses, then this past week when I removed radiator hoses from an old Toyota 6 cylinder. I like that the clamp swivels, and I can attach the clamp from either direction left or right. It was very helpful, some might say overkill for radiator hoses. It worked well, except it often wouldn't open the spring clips far enough to slide them on the hoses, especially a new hose. Closing the clamp as tight as it would go (to the last notch) - the two handles were not not quite fully closed, but could be closed a little further if I had a free hand. I finally sprayed the hoses with a lot of silicon spray, and that enabled me to slide the clamps the rest of the way into place. The advantage of this tool is that it clamps on, and you don't have to worry about pliers flying off and hurting something. Also, the angles the clamp on the end of the cable are much more flexible than pliers because they can go into smaller places. Overall a good tool!

must have for spring clamps
i used to HATE spring clamps till i bought a similar unit ages ago for my intrepid with the 2.7 and the buried hoses with spring clamps everywhere. so much frustration saved since then. this is one of those tools that takes vehicle repair from insurmountable chore to enjoyable hobby. they do wear out over time. my other branded set lasted about 20 years before the cable snapped. otherwise they're very reliable and easy to use once you figure it out. this one is built quite a bit better than my older tool. so hopefully the last one i'll need.

Like Snapon, but no lube needed.
Have a set of these I bought off the Snapon truck years ago. Wanted a set for the home shop. After getting my feelings hurt on the tool truck (inflation's a heck of a thing) I found these. Identical to my others, just way cheaper.

Not the same tool as the 28630 it replaces.
My 20+ year old Mayhew 28630 finally broke and has been discontinued, so I figured I get another Mayhew, model 28680. First off, the metal in the new one is literally half the thickness of my old one. Second, the new one has half the ratchet teeth and you have to squeeze further before they engage, plus they don't open far enough to use on radiator hose clamps. And third and worse thing is the cable is limp as spaghetti. No way you can position a clamp on a hose in an inaccessible space with this new tool.
