AC Infinity 8-Inch Inline Filter Box with High Efficacy Filter

Like everything AC Infinity makes, it’s extremely high quality. It’s pricey, but I haven’t found something like this on the market. It allows me to filter the air on my air intake. For the exhaust I use a carbon filter and would not use this. It was very easy to instal. The filter size was easy to order replacements for. Highly recommend!!!

Sturdy! I got this after an outside air intake was installed and a large amount of box elder bugs made it into the HVAC system, keeping them toasty inside all winter until they came out the ducts. The company installed a screen that did absolutely nothing. So after digging around to find a solution and found this. Mounted it right after the outside vent, and also put a finer screen on the outside grill as well. Not the bugs and pollen stays out of my ducts and I’m much happier

Used it for a fresh air intake for make up air on a 800 cfm range hood. Just didn’t want to suck on dust from outside. There is a separate exhaust for range hood that’s not in this picture. This is the 8” that requires a 14”x20” filter. Will purchase more of these in future as I need.

Hooked up to an AC Infinity fan/blower, I pull air from the outside into sub-basement area to improve ventilation and reduce wind-blown dust through the normal multiple of regular air vents in the foundation walls - by creating positive pressure. The unit is quite sturdy, comes with a pretty basic air filter. Two improvement areas: the seal between the filter and the air box is imperfect and allows dust and small bugs to get pulled into and through the unit without touching the filter; and the button to open the lid on the box to check or change the filter is awkward to use with one hand. Overall satisfied with the filtration kit, which I easily improved by hanging out the disposable filter for a better 3M HEPA filter,, and by judiciously applying duct tape in a couple of key interior (to the box) areas to prevent unfiltered air from entering the home.

The filter box is great and worked for what I needed. Make sure to replace the crappy filter that comes with it. It’s not reinforced at all and blew apart requiring you to cut it out.

I couldn’t find a better option, nothing else was similar that I could locate. It’s downfall, for a company that tells you to tape the inlet and outlet hose connections they should have sealed the box. You can see light through their factory joints. I used caulk to seal the interior as to give a clean exterior esthetic. They could have easily used a foam at the joints prior to riveting the shell together to create an air tight seal. The other con for me is there isn’t a mounting option. Judging by others, most people hang them with wire or straps not provided. Additionally there nothing to hold the door open if mounted door in the “correct” orientation. I mad a 1x2 stand off to hold it off the ceiling and drilled two holes to mount so the door hung open during filter changes for easy operation. Then sealed with caulk. All contaminants will be trapped in the filter prior to reaching the screws. Overall good value but could easily be improved at the manufacturer for easier customer experience.

Guess they figured everyone would be installing this on the floor because it doesn’t have a single mounting point or rubber feet to isolate vibration. Infinity listen up…. One size doesn’t fit all and you’ll get 5 stars once you mail me a kit to mount, doesn’t matter where. Between joists, rafters, ceiling hangers, I don’t care, but a 4 sided smooth box requiring me to tap holes gets points taken away.
