Must have for great cooking
I do a lot of cooking and BBQing. this is perfect! I cook food to temperature for perfect doneness . The price was great as far as the value I get. Very easy to use, just open the probe up insert just past the tip and it give you temp very quickly. I'm old person and I can read the display very easy inside or outside.

Thermistor is a great improvement over thermometers!
Great! Easy to use, accurate and can be calibrated! A great value because thermistors are fast and only have to have the tip in the liquid being measured, while an old-fashioned thermometer has to have at least 1/2” to be accurate, and takes longer to read the temperature. Magnet lets me keep it right on the fridge, so I don’t have to open the drawer to find it. Turns on when you open it, so you’re not fiddling with buttons when you’re in a hurry to check a sauce. Performs like a champ, and the battery lasts a long time.

Excellent Device
While maybe not as "high speed" as the top names in instant read thermometers, this instant read probe is more than what I need as a home chef. Super sharp probe with a fast readings whether I'm checking a roasted chicken in the oven I'm serving for dinner, or giving the green light to multiple pork butts and whole chickens coming off my smoker. It costs least than the high end models but I feel it is just as accurate,, albeit maybe not as fast. I have never worried to within thousands of seconds if something is done or not. With that said, it has a calibration function which I found absolutely amazing. I followed the instructions, calibrated my unit, and have never looked back wondering if I had made a good choice. When doing a lot of hens or pork butts, I always checks what my meter block probs are telling me and I am always on target. I would recommend this thermal prob, I feel it delivers professional grade performance at a fraction what profession grade equipment costs

Fine, but much better options exist for a little bit more money
It seems absurd to spend $50, or even $100, on a meat thermometer. But if you want a good thermometer that works quickly and accurately, then the price is just a bullet you'll have to bite. I tested four meat thermometers: the Thermopro Lightning ($45), this one, the Thermopro TP620 ($30), the Thermopro TP19H ($15), and the Thermoworks ThermoPop 2 ($47). Some meat thermometers have some lag between the first displayed reading and the final accurate reading. With the TP19H, this lag is the most pronounced, as it takes between 10 and 20 seconds in many cases to reach an accurate reading. The TP620 and the ThermoPop 2, have less lag, but still take between 5 and 10 seconds to reach an accurate reading. The Thermopro Lightning, however, is a true instant-read thermometer, as it provides a fast initial reading, and the final accurate reading takes no more than two seconds to appear. The Lightning is the only one that I know that I can trust to quickly provide an accurate reading. I find this to be surprising given Thermoworks' reputation, but perhaps their Thermapen ONE, which I did not retest since it retails for $125, is what merits their reputation. For $45, however, the Thermoprop Lightning appears to be mightly close in performance to the much more expensive Thermoworks and is certainly better than the ThermoPop 2 that I tested. The ThermoPop doesn't even have a magnet or hook. All of these thermometers are waterproof under running water. I probably wouldn't put them in the dishwasher, however. The displays on all of these are fine, and I think that the Thermopro Lightning's display stands out quite well. If you're looking for a quality meat thermometer that will do exactly what you expect it to do, get the Lightning. At $30, the TP620 isn't meaningfully better than the cheapest option and leaves one wanting for a better performer. It's the worst of both worlds, even though it's by no means a bad thermometer. But if you can swing $15 more, get the Lightning. You'll be pleased.

Very easy to use and read
This allows you to know the temperature very quickly. It is easy to use , read, and clean. The temp of the food is in large digital numbers so you can read it quickly and accurately. I feel safe using it because of these features.

The BEST thermometers for the kitchen
This thermometer is a game changer. The instant read makes cooking so easy, steaks aren't over cooked, chicken isn't under done. It's quality made and reliable every time. I also bought the candy thermometer and their infrared thermometer. All 3 have made my cooking life easier and less stressful. I also purchased the DOT thermometer, no guessing if a roast or turkey is under or over done. Thank you Therma Pro!

Old eyes need new technology
And I have only 1 eye! But that is another write-up. I needed a new thermometer for turkey day. I also plan prime rib for Christmas, ie, need an excellent tool for great prime rib. I bought a different brand a few years ago but the battery cover didn't stay on well after I changed the battery and ona nd on. This appears to be an upgrade to the old one so I am excited about using it for the prime rib. I can see the numbers well. It measured the turkey quickly which reduced the time out of the oven. It quickly changed temperatures between different parts of the bird. We flip the bird and this cooks the turkey faster; a 10-pound bird can be done in 2 to 2.5 hours. The key is an excellent thermometer and a committed flipper. This is only part of the great bird. The second part this year was my 34-year-old daughter who took the reigns and let me watch the Barbie movie while she cooked! Old age rocks!
