It works well but needs to be anchored to a solid surface so that it doesn’t tilt or rip out when it is used

Very good quality exactly what my aunt needed! Has been a huge help we installed this in her shower so that she could get out on her own

The folding bar itself seems to be of good manufacture, Due to the extended length, and multiplied force, the mounting hardware is not sufficient for support. The four bolts to mount this into the wall are designed to be placed into concrete or brick. They each consist of a screw, sleeve and expander bit that is pulled up the sleeve to wedge between the sleeve and the wall. This cannot be trusted for mounting into wood or plaster/wood. The top mounting holes are very short on the wall-plate, like a crowbar or hammer causes extreme force on the retaining bolts. If an adult using this as a 'Safety Bar' to catch themselves and applies body full weight, I believe this would rip out from the wall. This is likely true with any ONE SIDED ONLY support bar. If you purchase this and do not have STRONG ANCHORS to attach it, be warned! I will be keeping this as I have managed a solution. I used a 1/4 threaded rod and went all the way thorough the 6 inch wall, placing nuts and heavy washers on each side. I then capped the ends with cover nuts with rounded shields.

Very well built. Installation can be a challenge because of the spacing of the screws. You really should have a solid substrate to attach it to as the spacing of the screws exceed a typical 2x4. I had to go to the hardware store for more screws because the lumber I was driving them into was very old, hence, hard, and the phillips head screws kept stripping out. And this was despite having drilled pilot holes. If the finish isn't important, I'd choose the most aggressive, highest quality fasteners you can get to fit through the holes in the mounting plate. These would best have a torx head. I positioned the bar to provide additional leverage for getting off the toilet and to aid positioning to sit or rise from a wheelchair. Facilitates cleanup, too, if you are a caregiver.
