PetSafe Nylon Martingale Collar with Quick Snap Buckle, 1" Medium, Black, dogs, 15 inch

Excellent collar, budget friendly and durable (for most dogs). I bought a size Large 1” last autumn when I adopted, but just purchased a Medium 1” for a better fit and couldn’t be happier! The martingale loop changes size with the collar size! Photos top to bottom: my dog’s flat collar in gray, new Medium collar out of the box without fitting, and the Large collar fitted to my dog so that the martingale loop *when closed* is safely inescapable without choking. Photo 1 shows martingales with closed loop, photo 2 with open loop, and photo 3 is a close-up on the martingale loops to show difference in size between medium and large. My dog’s comfortable collar size for everyday wear is around 17”-18”, and proper closed martingale restraint is at 15.5”. When not leashed, the fitted Large would hang so loose (22”) that she could easily back out and it could shake off in a vigorous game of tug. There was too much slack in the loop! Sizing down to a Medium 1” worked for us because it has a smaller loop. She gets the same secure fit pulled tight, and less wiggle room when loose, making it a safer collar both on and off leash.

Highly recommend this soft collar plus the Petsafe Easy Walk Harness if you have a strong puller - I have both for my Labradoodle and 7 month old Pitbull/Labrador mix. Stops Labradoodle from rushing ahead & only takes 1 slight tug, however, I would not be able to control the pup without these items as he is so strong. I also like fact that harness does not annoy or impede them from running to retrieve or swimming when off leash/harness. Should have ordered large collar & medium/large size harness for pup - medium has been let out as much as possible & is now snug but fortunately I can find on Amazon for $14 to $16 instead of $25.00 at pet store.

I appreciate that this has a buckle on the martingale collar. I use martingale for walking and do not leave on my dog, have another collar that stays on with tags. This is easy to put on and take off. Good quality also.

I ordered a medium for my dog with a 13" measurement. It was way too big, I could fit both my hands in the collar while it was on her. I put it on my dog who is twice her size and it fits her perfectly. The big dog didn't really need a new collar but I didn't feel like returning it. I bought a small for the 13" dog. I'd say maybe order a size smaller than what you'd think you'll need. It's really nice, sturdy material. Nice to have a buckle as my small dog is blind & deaf, she gets freaked out when I'm trying to adjust a collar while its on her. The martingale function is awesome too to help ensure she never slips it and gets lost!

I couldn't find a martingale collar in the Memphis (TN) area that buckled, and I was so happy to find this one! The ones that you slip over the dog's head have to be adjusted every time you put them on your dog, and they don't hold their size once they're on. This collar DOES hold its size - never slips. I use it on my young German Shepherd Dog who is now a Registered Therapy Dog, and it's PERFECT!!! I'm an instructor and an evaluator for our organization, and I recommend this exact collar to lots of people.
