Review: Awesome boots!!! Very unique and fit great!!! - Love these boots! Very unique look and the quality is very reasonable for the price. I am a size 10.5 to 11 and the large size was just a tad big; however, with two pairs of thick socks ,they fit like a dream. These are the first boots I have purchased and I realize that a half or full size up would be better than them fitting "just right" or "snug" with thin socks. Didn't pay much attention to the arch support...I took photos for an hour while walking on grass, stone and concrete and they didn't bother me at all. I do live streaming and entertainment/instructional videos and I am always looking for an eye catcher...can't wait to see some of the comments... Review: So, I'm 6 foot and 200 lbs and wear a 10.5 shoe - Based on the measurements I trusted that I should order a Medium size. I have seen all of the complaints about the calf being too tight. That was not my experience. They actually fit really well by following the measurements, and I have been told I have big calves. So you other guys must have massive calves. With that said, the price seems kind of high to me for the quality. They really look good right out of the box, but the build is somewhat cheap, and I expect they will wear poorly. So for price and build quality reasons, I'm returning them (even though they fit really well). Price is high, build quality is low, and look is good (out of the box). If you want them to last, don't buy. If you need them for only one event and can dump 75 dollars, then have at it, and follow the measurements.

So, I'm 6 foot and 200 lbs and wear a 10.5 shoe

LOVE ! These boots!
Facts that may help you since a small and medium were compared: 1. Small and medium difference is about a 1/2" in length - BUT calf is 16" in both. ( Size chart saying Small is 15-1/2" is not correct, apparently. I called the company. They had warehouse measure and told me "16"." So I reordered in Small. Small fit me better. 2. A Small is a Woman's size 8-1/2". So it is a little long on me, the Medium was dangerously long. Small on me, fits like a custom made boot. 3. The pockets on side lay flat if lain on a flat surface. On my leg, however, both the Small and Medium do NOT lay flat. Middle pokes out--- see photo. On one hand though, if these were handmade leather from that era, that could happen in workmanship, so in a way, to me, it makes the boots look more "Period" vs being a negative. 3. The pleather fabric is matte look and, I think, unisex. It is strong, but thinner, and will stretch a little, if needed and quickly. So give it a gentle tug, if it looks like you have a gap of a bit, and you may get the zipper up. Wear like a half hour and next time boots fit easily. 3. The pleather is light enough weight for hot weather area climate. 4. Zipper is strong. 5. There isn't any arch support. Grab some Dr. Scholl orthotics on Amazon for around $15, and you can also use in other shoes and boots - and have more freedom to buy low cost cute shoes and boots as well as high cost ones. ( Love those orthotics and mine are still fine two years later and they advertise replacing every 6 months.) 6. These boots work for a very high instep Belts on foot are also adjustable. 7. Love that I can easily flex my ankles in these! 8. Toe box is awesome and huge! If you have thinner calves, you could wear thick socks. 9. Some say the soles seem thin. I would say "average." You could probably add a sole at shoe repair. 10. Did you buy someone else's "return?" How to tell - My Smalls: arrived with each full boot wrapped in tissue paper, then folded, then inside individual plastic clear bags, then wrapped in more white tissue paper in the box. Lid had a green sticker about "recycling." Toes had tissue paper stuffing. My Mediums: Only tissue paper in box - none around the boots. No bags. No sticker on lid. Had tissue paper in toes. My conclusion? The Mediums were someone's return. When you have questions, call Ellie Shoes directly. They are in Orange County, CA. Very good and polite Customer Service. Rare these days--- Customer Service AT the company, not outside US. You actually can reach a real switchboard! I so love these boots and likely will buy Ellie boots or shoes in the future. I felt like a valued customer. And I like their fun styles. And best thing? Now that I know they make a boot that fits my foot well ( very high instep, high arch, one foot a lot wider than other due to a foot injury, and fit my ex- gymnast calves , I will shop Ellie Shoes first then if needed look other places. But "custom" made boots for around $52? (I applied $16 from Amazon card cash back), these boots were an awesome find and purchase! ( I bought for Steampunk look - and these also work for a pirate look, SCA ( Society for Creative Anachronism), ComiCon. And maybe fetish wear (?)

great boots. better for people with slimmer legs
these are just great boots. i bought them for a costume, and will be wearing them to an upcoming medieval theme wedding. better for people with slimmer legs, my calves are large, so that part is a tight fit, but i really like these boots.

Good Value!
They fit well and the leather has held up nicely. I wear them at the Renaissance Faire and they have remained comfortable and still go on easy as well as they come off. Great value for the cost!

Look nice, not comfortable
Bf said the soles are super thin and his feet hurt by the end of the night after wearing them for only about 4 hours of very light walking mostly indoors. The color is also not accurate to the display images, the brown is a much warmer and brighter color.

Way better than I thought they would be
I was worried they would be a bit on the small side, but I was pleasantly surprised that they fit extremely well. The toe box is bigger than expected, but that isn't a complaint, it gives me room to actually wiggle and stretch my toes, especially after your foot naturally swells from walking. The pouches are functional, which I wasn't expecting, I thought they were purely decorative. And the zipper on the inside of the boot is pretty strong, it even gives you that sexy stripper feeling when you put them on and zip them up. Overall, I highly recommend them, just pay attention to your sizing to make sure you get the best fit.

Not fit to human scale
Having worn nothing but regular size 12 shoes and boots for around 20 years I was surprised at how poorly made these were. The quality of the material was good for the price, but the width of the sole and the narrowness of the calf was so bad I question that these boots were actually made for men. The sides of my feet hung over the edge of the soul and I could barely get the zipper past halfway up. I've never had to buy specifically wide shoes before and my calves had never been an issue in any other boots I've worn. It is as though the designer had only the vague concept that some people had feet sized 12 inches in length but never bothered to check the other measurements. Unless you are a stick figure expect a hard time.

What a piece of junk. Within 20 minutes of wearing these boots for my steampunk costume, 3 of the buttons had come off. I was just standing around in them. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy them, they look cool, but the craftsmanship is atrocious.
