The Healing Wisdom of Africa
This Book is an Ancestors text book for Rituals & Healing. I read a section, and I just need to sit and meditate to digest what I'm reading. Some things are confirmed, as I have experienced them. And again the validation of the need for Community. Especially those who are indigenous to this Land. The Beautiful Sister-Friend who referred it to me, her and I will be connecting to do a Live discussion on this Book. Best part, the Author himself is now one of our Ancestors.

This one actually is more of a generalizer
This is a Great Book, but athe Generalizing one. On the subject of the African Folk Culture, and especially getting to know the line of Work and the author - Some, this is actually not the NEWER Eddition. This is the Generalised outcome from his research. Thus I the detailed one is the earlier ! It is a one of the pieces from the Great Line of Cultural research by Patrice Malidoma Some. The Author is verified as an expert on the Topic in the far 1994, when he actually even recorded mixtapes with the oral tradition. The death of this author during The Pandemics is a TRULY unfortunate event. I am aware that his is trying to took it from where his Great Father left. This is truly a HARD Task, when your name brings light to a Culture indeed. This one is from the original author figure. May God show his Mercy on Patrice`s soul ! Deep Regrets to his Family.

The Real Deal
I read this book because I'd just read his autobiographical story in "Of Water and the Spirit." I knew his outer life, now I wanted to know more of his inner life. How could I know that "The Healing Wisdom of Africa" would teach me more about MY inner life! This man is the "real deal," when it comes to wisdom, whether it be of a spiritual, mystical, political, cultural or social kind. I wish every white person, especially in America, would read this book. Malidoma Some gets to the heart of our problems and does so without blame, with natural authority, true humility and great love: rare combinations! His words are gentle, yet unbelievably strong. His insights are brilliant and his language exquisite. He knows the value of the individual as well as the group. He respects children, how unusual! He understands how we got to the place in America of suicide being the No. 1 killer of our teens. He understands "the great White loneliness," (my words)and he knows how to connect us up again, not only to the God within, but to each other. This book is nicely subversive, as well. Perhaps that is why it hasn't become a national best seller. We throw our Africans away, don't we? We always have. And what does a black man, of all things, have to teach us, we who are so superior in our technology and indifference? Only the way home. To ourselves, to our God, to each other. Quotes: "Matter is the skin of Spirit." "To produce beauty consistently requires a healthy community."

My New Bible
I don’t even know how to write a review for this book. In short, it’s amazing! I believe that every American of African descent has a responsibility to read this book. Even if you don’t end up practicing ritual, you should at least have the knowledge. I wholeheartedly believe that the information in this book holds the key to healing the black American community. Perhaps maybe even the entire Black/African world.

Great book for religious studies scholars and people exploring different spiritual beliefs
This book is wonderfully and insightful written. This is a masterful account of a traditional African spiritual world and life that is both informative and applicable to the readers life, regardless of their own culture.
