Waste of money and time

Shade 8.22 came out close to the swatch—rose gold without looking brassy. The cream spreads evenly, doesn’t drip, and the ammonia-free formula has a mild scent. Instructions are clear; I processed ~30 minutes and hair felt conditioned afterward. Color has held well so far and fades toward a peachy blonde rather than dulling out. Good at-home option if you want a subtle pink tone—do a strand test and check sizing if you have long or thick hair. I recommend it.

I ordered colors 3.11, 6.0, 7.20, 8.22, and 9 1/2.1 several months ago. I was looking for an anomie-free permanent hair color that is comparable to the brand that I've been buying for several years now. I am looking to replace my long-time go-to because it's become increasingly difficult to find in stores. Side note: I'm comfortable and confident when it comes to coloring hair at home. I have colored my own hair and friends and family's hair for over 10 years. And was greatly surprised when I was told a master hair dresser (19+ years experience and owner of a high-end salon in the city of LA) complimented my work several times. After having colored my hair (nearly three months ago) and my mom's hair (about four months ago) here are my impressions - Pros: + Ammonia-free + Pink shades - for an ammonia-free, at home box kit I haven't seen this color range offered by other brands. + Relatively easy to find in convince stores though the options/ range of colors can be limited at physical stores - hence my order from Amazon (a wide range of colors/choices) + Cheaper per box than other ammonia-free at home hair color kits I've been using - if you have fine hair, Olia might work well for you Cons: - For hair that is predominately grey I would not recommend Olia - my mom chose 3.11 and we noticed the color visibly faded after each wash. After about two weeks, her hair color looked very brassy. I went back to my go-to box hair color to color my mom's hair a couple weeks ago and immediately noticed how much richer our old favorite's color is. - Formula is thin and runny making it difficult to ensure even coverage (I use a hair coloring brush purchased at a licensed-professionals-only beauty supply store [friend who owns her own salon, helped put me in contact with the owner]) - Wasteful - I could not get all the colorant out of the bottle and into a plastic hair coloring bowl - Need more boxes to completely saturate thick, healthy, naturally wavy hair which reaches past the waist. (reference: old go-to hair color: 3-4 boxes. Olia: 6 boxes). One box was not enough product to completely saturate short, chin-length, predominately grey/greying hair. - Even after several shampoos immediately after dying my hair with colors 6.0, 7.20, and 8.22 my scalp was still sensitive to the formulation three days later. I experienced throbbing pain on my scalp (which I have never experienced with any other hair dye--at home or salon-only--applied by myself or by seasoned professionals. - Overall, complete saturation of thick, long, and/or wavy/curly hair requires way more boxes than I have even needed before (with other brands). - Do not recommend for those who are sensitive to fragrances - Do not record for those who have sensitive skin I was hesitant to try the pink shades I ordered (7.20 and 8.22) because of critical reviews--here on Amazon-- which stated the colors didn't show up pink at all. Maybe the formula I received was updated or different than that of the critical reviews I read. For me, however, the colors did leave a really pretty wash of pink as I had hoped they would. I initially ordered the hair colors on Amazon's Subscribe and Save Auto delivery service but because we were so sorely disappointed by the texture/formula of the product and its overall performance, I cancelled my subscriptions. However, after receiving a lot of compliments on my current shade, I decided to give Olia's hair color another try. If, however, my head and scalp throb again after using Olia a second time, I will not be re-purchasing even if the shade is pretty. All in all, for hair that is pronominally grey, I absolutely do not recommend Olia permanent hair color. I found it to be a complete waste of time and money. Even though Olia costs 60% less per box than the go-to I had been buying, Olia requires more product (i.e. more boxes), VISIBLY fades after each shampoo, and absolutely did not provide the needed coverage desired for more mature/predominantly grey or greying hair. And although the pink shades are pretty, I I'm not comfortable recommending them because of the issues with sensitivity I experienced. Lastly, because of how quickly Olia fades, I would recommend it to those who want to lighten their hair, not to those who wish to dye their hair darker than it's current or natural shade or to those wishing to cover/conceal grey hair. Also, because of how thin and runny Olia's formulation is, please take note if one's hair is not fine or thin, one will definitely need more than one box to saturate his/her stands evenly or well.

First off, I'm definitely not an expert, but I've dyed my hair at least 30 times. Right when my box was delivered (came with a packing bubble and was not damaged) I went to dye my hair. I had about 5 inches of dark blonde roots and the rest bleached blonde back from January. It took about 45 minutes, root to tips, to fully coat my hair thoroughly. I waited 20 minutes after I finished for it to set, since my roots have been covered for 30 min already. I followed the directions for rinsing and conditioning and I'd say the final color is interesting. My roots are like a rosy orange. I'm assuming this dye has some kind of lightener in it, otherwise I wouldn't have an orange hue. Hair between the roots and ends got some rosiness, and the ends are pretty light. The dying process was the fastest I've ever done, it could be from the consistency of the dye or partly my long hair is easier to dye than when I had short hair. I barely smelled the dye through the whole process. I could have waited even longer to see if the result would be darker (I used to wait an hour after twisting my hair in a bun just to make sure) but I chose to do this before work so the standard time had to do. All in all I like the color that's on the bleached part of my hair, but I really don't like the orange. That's why I'm only rating 4 stars. I'm going to try a blue/purple shampoo to offset the orange, and if I still have a weird root color I'm going to try the rose quartz dye next. With the pictures, the first is my original hair, then pics of the gradient and roots.

I attempted to do my butt-length hair with one box so I didn't get quite the coverage I need but that's on me. I also didn't get enough grey coverage. Okay, not grey but silver - my silvery hairs along the hairline are still shining through a bit which is actually rather pretty with the rose gold. I'm going to try again with two boxes and see if I get better coverage. So far, the Feria rose gold covered better and the two shades (both rose gold) are very comparable, but this one has a better 'sheen' to it. Not sure that's the right word, but my hair seems a little softer and shiner with the Olia as opposed to the Feria. I tried this one because I have used other brands with oils before and always had better results. I would say the same is true of this one, the oils just seem to agree with my hair, which is long and just a tad on the dry side. Also, this doesn't stink up the bathroom. I'm very tired of hair colors that stink up the place so I am liking the ammonia-free options. Just buy two boxes if your hair is past shoulder length, I'd say, as this seems to be less product and its coverage has a lighter touch. Pretty but you will probably need two boxes to really have control over the resulting color.

I have been this color for 2 1/2 years, only using Feria (F) brand because that's all I could find. I saw this and tried it. I was concerned that the consistency of the mixed product as it is very thick. I figured it was because of all of the oils used in it. My hair is thin and fine so I had just enough, for thick hair, you will need more than one bottle application to fully cover. I left it on for 30 minutes (per instructions) now, normally, it would turn a dark color while developing (F) but this one stayed a nice pink, not on the purple side as with (F). I am so pleased with the end result! nice pink with gold highlights in the sun. And it does NOT smell like I just colored my hair! I will buy this again, and again! I am reformed away from (F), sorry guys :) I would upload a picture but my phone is being dumb.
