Can't recommend it enough!
Our, then, 18 month old son found himself magnetically pulled towards this set at a local museum's discovery area. We got his his own set at 20/21 months of age, and for MONTHS now, he's playing with them almost daily. We've had this product for about 5 months now, and both my husband and I consider this set to be one of the best toys we've bought for him. We started him out with chains of orange and green pieces pre assembled (by us) so that he'd learn how to put the gears into the little pegs. Eventually we started making the process harder for him by making smaller preassembled pieces (e.g. shorter chains first then eventually just orange and green piece-pairs preassembled). After 5 months of use, now even if we leave them all completely disassembled, our son seems to be able to put the pieces together to create whatever it is he wants. Just the other day he proudly showed us a "double bus" (i.e., double decker bus) --- two rows 3 gears all connected together. He still isn't able to 100% push all of the pieces tightly together, but even then (surprisingly enough) the pieces don't just fall apart. Yes, they do stay together better when t hey are tightly pushed in, but this toy has been seemingly designed with children who naturally are weaker in strength and dexterity in mind. It's great. I would recommend this toy to anyone who is interested in hearing me rave about it.

Endless fun
My preschooler made this on his own. These gears are super engaging and the whole family enjoys them!

Love it!
I've just bought this and wanted to check it out before I gave it to my kids, so I opened it up and played with it a little. :) This is a really fun toy. I can't wait to have my kids play with it and see what they make. I like how there is no end to the possibilities for what you can build. It gets kids thinking, creating, and using those fine motor skills.

great but......
it's a great starter set for a youngster you want to teach them about how clockwork works. They can make their gears work in many directions but not when they're both upright and horizontal for some odd reason. If they got them so the two directions worked in tandem I'd give them 5 stars.

Good mind stimulating toy
My son who is 4 seemed to like these! He loves blocks and mind activies so I thought these would be great. They are a preschool recommended toy and great for occupational therapy. Some pieces were hard to get together and apart, and ne needed my assistance for those. However, I feel that is a good toy and allows a child to be creative.

Fun Toy
I purchased this set for my grandson for his 5th birthday. He loves building type toys so I thought this would be a good match. I was correct. He is enjoying finding all the ways they can fit together and is very intrigued by turning the crank on one end and watching them all turn. I do wish it came in some sort of storage box though.

My nephew LOVED playing with this
My nephew LOVED playing with this. He loves wheels so this was the perfect item for him. He knew exactly how to snap the pieces together right out of the box and he is only 2.5 years old. Some times I had to help him press down but he knew how to snap them in himself. We built ours UP and it was a blast. I recommend an expansion pack as this set only comes with four small pieces for the foundation. He wanted to spread them all out. Ordering him an expansion pack. Excited.
