I originally purchased floating fish pellet food (different brand) which quickly made me realize that was a bad idea with a water level skimmer that quickly gobbles up the fish food before the fish have time to eat it. To get around this I had to shut off the pump which was a pain in the butt cause half the time I would forget to turn it back on. Low and behold I see on Amazon they sell SINKING fish pellets specific for my type of pond set up...genius! Well at least I thought so right up until the new fish pellets arrived and I used them for the first time. Low and behold the SINKING fish pellets did not sink (at all), not a single pellet fell to the bottom of the pond, not even after 5-10 min of sitting in the water! How do you sell something advertised as a SINKING pellet that does not sink! Big waste of money and time waiting for this fish food to arrive for it to completely fail its intended purpose. I guess now I have plenty of FLOATING fish pellets to last me a while.

I just added two smaller koi. One was very shy for the longest time and would not feed with the bigger koi. I got this sinking food because it was smaller than the floating food that I usually feed my fish and I doubt that the smaller fish would be able to it it. Plus, since it sinks I could put it so it would sink right by its hiding place so it would come and eat. The other fish eventually caught on and would race over to eat this food instead of their regular food so I have to put it in different places. Now the smaller fish are used to their environment and have joined the others to feed. But I’m still feeding them this food to encourage growth. I’m sure it’s working as I can’t believe how fast they’ve grown. And the colors of all fish also seem to be enhanced. Good product but a bit pricey. But you pay for quality.

This is a good product for feeding those fish that just hide all day near the bottom. Medium sized pellets so you will still have to use flakes for smaller fish because these are pretty hard. Not all of them sink which is good or bad depending on what you want.
