I bought the key shell case in order to replace the original case, but suddenly i found it cracked and it won't close where i had to put tape to assure that it function.

My original remote had been through a lot. Eventually the back broke off completely and half the buttons on the front had the image rubbed off of them. I was going to buy an entire replacement remote or two but read (if memory serves) that the cheap one's you could program yourself only worked through the 2011 model year. Fortunately I only lost the back of my remote so I could easily pop the original board out of what was left of it and snap it into this shell and now it looks and works like new. I'm sure people look at my key chain now and think to themselves, I bet he drives something new and respectable. Haha, nope.

I purchased this item after purchasing SIX similar cases from Batteries Plus over the course of a year and a half. The cases from Batteries Plus were complete crap and broke easily! Plus they charged to replace the case. After being frustrated and not being able to find another case from somewhere other than Batteries Plus I purchased this from Amazon. I could tell right away this case was going to be durable like the cases that come with your original keys. I've dropped my keys a couple times and no cracks in the case. This case is AWESOME!!!

I've seen reviews that say that the replacement case doesn't fit...but it does. Ok, I'm writing this review, after just receiving the case...andstrughling with it for about 15 minutes to get the old battery/circuit board to fit the new case. Everything seemed to just ALMOST fit correctly, but not😤. After taking everything out, and putting it back in a few times, I tried something different🤔. I used the old rubber buttons cover from my broken case. Switched it, and used it/the old one in the new case. Bam...everything snapped right into place. Checked the remote by locking my car doors and such, just to make sure everything was was aligned, and contacts were good. No problems. FYI, my vehicle is a 2017 GMC Acadia.

I required the key fob shell for a 2008 MALIBUE. From the picture and description, this looked like the exact match of the old one except for the trunk release button having an outline of an SUV releasing its hatch. Upon receiving this replacement fob, I installed the old circuit board with battery holder into it and could not get the shell to close. With further study of the new fob, I discovered some internal structures designed to support a smaller battery than what my old key fob was using. A few careful minutes with a sharp blade removed that structure and solved the issue. The two halves of the new fob snapped together securely, and the button pad works exactly like the original. The plastic is solid and as good as the original. I cannot say how long the button pad will last. So far, the car itself is outlasting the fobs.

I've purchased 3 of these. First one broke because my son had my keys and I figured he was rough with them. 2nd one broke within a month. 3rd one just broke within 2 months. It's cheap but you get what you pay for. I'll pay more for better quality next time.
