Gets the job done quite nicely
First off, the negatives. The button mapping is a little schizophrenic. The A, B and C buttons are mapped to 3, 2 and 6 respectively. The X, Y and Z buttons are mapped to 4, 1, and 5 respectively. The mode and start button are mapped to 9 and 10. The D-Pad is set as a Digital Joystick, which works fine. You'll notice that buttons 7 and 8 are not used. There is no way to use them. Also, the D-pad is a little bit wonky, but that's more an issue with the original Mega Drive controller it's trying to mimic rather than with this reproduction. Just bear that in mind. The good bits: Works great. Tried it with the Sega Mega Drive Collection on Steam as well as a few different 3rd party emulators like Fusion and Gens and it works just as you'd expect. The device works just fine right out of the box with Windows 7 with Plug and Play. No setup or calibration required. My only real complaint is it's size. It's based on the smaller model Japanese Mega Drive controller rather than the larger US one. Not really a big deal though.

Worked well, although a little flimsy.
This controller worked very well on Genesis emulators. The buttons felt a little flimsy, but I dealt with it. Then, one day, I was playing Kid Chameleon, and I had to duck quickly to avoid an enemy projectile. I pushed down so forcefully, the D pad snapped off!

Sega Genesis is my favorite system of all time and the Genesis 6-button controller ...
Sega Genesis is my favorite system of all time and the Genesis 6-button controller is my favorite controller. However, I was pretty disappointed by Retro Link's effort at a Genesis controller. The buttons, especially the upper ones, are loose and jiggly. More problematic is the fact that the controller is at least 30% smaller than the Sega original, which makes it uncomfortable. I don't recommend this product unless you are nostalgic for a touch of early 90's gaming and don't have the original system and controller on hand.

Did not last more than a couple of weeks...
This product works well, while it lasts. After owning it for about 3 weeks the d-pad broke off. I put up with it, but after a little while the Y button started to stick. Then the covering that protects the wires disconnected from the pad itself, leaving wires exposed. After a few months it finally shorted out. This product has poor materials and is poor engineering. You are better off getting a gamepad from a well known manufacturer and just adapting to having a different type of controller. I won't be buying any retro controllers again unless a good company starts making them. Awesome idea, poor implementation.

Terrible, but it works so far.
I ordered this controller because it was slightly better reviewed than some of the other cheap Sega USB controllers on Amazon. The other reviews point out the faults here. The controller is smaller than it should be and very light. All of the buttons stick up way too high and are super loose, flopping around in their holes. The D-Pad is the worst!!! The D-Pad sits very high and feels terrible to press. When you press it sinks deep into the controller, it almost feels like it might get stuck in there. The D-Pad feels squishy and unbelievably cheap, each direction has a different feel, right being the worst. I've only used it once for about an hour, nothing has fallen off yet, but other people have had that problem. The mode button on the right shoulder feels terrible. I do not recommend this to anyone when for two or three more bucks you can get a much better controller. I ordered a few of the Play Sega (7-10 bucks) controllers they made for their old game rental website, these are better that the Retro Link but worse than OEM. There are some VERY high priced OEM USB controllers called the SLS Control Pad for the Sega Saturn that are probably the best you can buy, but they run 100-150 bucks. Alternatively, you can buy an OEM controller and get the USB Converter dongle. OEM controllers are pretty cheap, 5-10 bucks, and the dongle is about 10 on Amazon. Also you could use a completely unrelated controller like the 360 controller, but you prolly already have that.

Works!
It works for what it does. It is cheaply made with with cheap plastic but it works. The buttons shake when I shake the controller. Using the controller and mashing the buttons the shake don't matter. Good button feel. SEGA made the best controller design IMHO. Simple and elegant. This is a good enough replica. The shipping is exactly the same as the price of controller but it didn't stop me from getting the good old days nostalgia.

Cheap little sega-like remote
Nice, Cheap little sega-like remote... Cheap and flimsy... The D-pad already fell off. Nothing a little super-glue couldn't fix. But it really shouldn't be necessary. If you are a button-masher, like most retro-gamers, you will NOT want this, as it will break right away. But if you're gentle with it, it's ok...

I had to download JoyToKey to get it working on certain games but works perfectly. The build doesn't feel like original controller although it doesn't really matter if you're playing sonic on your break.
