Refined 100% shea butter
It is white instead of the shea yellow color. However, it is a 100% shea butter. It is just refined which I like more because it removes also the smell of shea that I don’t particularly like

Overall EXCELLENT for acne prone skin and even older skin. I previously used Alaffia's shea butter for years but the scent I like is no longer in production. So I switched to this Now brand and three months later, I am pleased. I think there was a bit of purging the first month but my skin has since calmed down and smoothed out. The formula is a bit "thinner" than the typical yellow shea butter so sometimes I have to use a bit more, but using too much will make you look greasy. So find your balance. I contacted the company regarding product production and was extremely pleased with their answer: Q: Hello, I recently purchased your NOW Shea Butter. I wanted to know what is the refinement process and / or what is the shea butter refined with (e.g. high heat, hexane, etc.)? Also, is the product tested after refinement to ensure its potency / efficacy is intact after the refinement process? Finally, why is the shea butter you offer (or offered, as it appears it's no longer sold by your company) refined as opposed to leaving it in its raw form? Thank you. A: Thank you for your inquiry. The wildcrafted nuts are cold expeller pressed to exclude the butter (oil), heated to liquid state for physical filtration. Refined with clays (diatomaceous earth) & carbon to lighten the color. Steamed to deodorized. The shea butter is tested for acid value, peroxide value, yeast, mold and bacteria. We do not offer raw or unrefined shea butter simply due to rancidity issues. ----- Overall I pray this product is not discontinued!
