I’m very pleased with the results
Dust collector review I’ve been running this for a few hours and the result is much better than previous single stage 1hp unit. I use this in a 2 car garage dedicated shop with about 15’ of 6” duct across the ceiling with a few 4” flex drops with gates to my equipment. When I turned it on it cleared out all the left over debris my previous system couldn’t handle. I was very pleased with running my table saw with almost zero dust coming off the blade above the cut. The dust collector had about a large coffee can worth of dust in the main collector and again almost zero dust in the air filter area after a good “raking” of the filter. The next test will be heavy demand on the thickness sander. This will be the true test of this units ability to handle the fine work. Agee tips on building. Staring with removing the bottom staples where the carton is attached to the skid. Then easily lift off the carton. Unload all the parts. Please note that many parts are nested inside of others. I thought two bigs parts were missing but were inside the filter canister and dust bin. Get some little trays to easily find the right nuts and bolts. The supplied wrenches are useless, don’t bother with them, and the bolts are off size and neither metric nor standard properly fit well. I used an adjustable wrench for final tightening. I used the same technique another mentioned by mounting the motor with the stand laid down and then easily lifted the unit upright. Go slow with starting all bolts. Like I said they’re a little off but all worked if you remain patient. My total assembly time from open to built was about 90 minutes My unit measured at 79 db about 6 db lower than my previous unit. My ambient sound level about 50 db. Very happy about that. The pitch is also lower making the sound almost relaxing. I would recommend this unit and am relieved as this unit was bit more expensive than I wanted but my health is important.

Surprisingly powerful
I bought this as a secondary dust collector to service a few smaller tools in one corner of my shop. I have a 3hp cyclone servicing the larger tools at the other end of the shop, and I prefer not to have it running just for a miter saw or router table. I was previously using a wall mount 1hp Grizzly for these smaller tools and it just wasn't powerful enough. I chose the Jet 1.5hp because I wanted to be able to plug it into any 110 outlet in my shop. Plus it has the dust bin and good air filter. I wasn't sure if it would be a big enough difference over the old 1hp wall mount, but I was pleasantly surprised at the difference! This thing has some serious power. I only have 3 short lines connected to it. The longest is about 10 feet to my miter saw hood. So I don't know how it would perform over long distances across the entire shop, but it does very well in my setup. The old one couldn't even keep the box under my router table empty with only 3 feet of pipe in between them. This Jet 1.5hp seem 3 times as powerful and gets all the dust. Others have noted problems with the remote. I haven't experienced any problems as of yet. Assembly was pretty easy. Some parts of the manual could be clearer and the bolts need to be labeled better. Overall, not bad. I only needed a second person when attaching the blower unit to the top of the frame. We each held one side and were able to slip the bolts in at the same time. Delivery was easy. Amazon delivered in a box truck that was small enough for my circle drive. They sent 2 men for delivery. The unit comes in a big box on a small pallet. Two people can pick up the entire pallet. It's not hard to move around. This a great little dust collector at an appropriate price. After this purchase, I would definitely consider Jet again if I was replacing my larger dust collector.

This dust collector works well, has both the benefits and the shortcomings of being a smaller unit
I only have owned one dust collector so I can't compare this to other units. I have little doubt that the fanatics are right, and a big 6-inch suction would be healthier, but I can't install a big collector so I am glad to have this one. It is small enough to be simple to handle, does at least a pretty good job, and the radio on-off control is awesome. Whole unit would be useless for me without the remote. I would not give this unit high marks for assembly, however. The fasteners are so cheap and inaccurate it is impossible to tell if they are metric or Imperial ( they are metric but so sloppy that imperial wrenches fit better. ) Basically it was annoying to assemble despite being not very complicated.

Great affordable dust collection
I have a detached shop, and have used a shop vac for years, but decided to upgrade to this unit. It was a bit difficult to assemble, but with a couple of block and tackles from the rafters, you can easily lift the heavy motor. It seems to work great in the limited time that I used it yesterday in the shop, and most of the dust ended up in the barrel, rather than in the filter, as it should be. It is quite a bit quieter than my shop vacuum (though it is about 20 years old). I am glad that I got it.

Great product, trips circuit breaker!
This is a great dust collector. Assembly was straight forward enough, though you will need someone to help lift the heavy motor unit and hold till bolts can be installed. My only complaint is that it trips my circuit breaker. It is on a dedicated, 20 amp circuit. First time each crafting session that I turn it on, pop. I must reset the breaker. After that it works correctly. I’m sure it will wear out the breaker. They need to improve the design. That’s the reason for 3 stars, if it didn’t do that it would get 5.

Solid little unit
This unit, as so many, will have a splitter on the initial 6 inch to (2) four inch. If you run a twenty foot flex hose to say, a router, you will not be able to split the suction between a 4 in router base and 2.5 in router fence. In fact, there is rarely a time when you can split a 4 inch with this unit. So plan ahead. Don't think you can run some pipe and split to (2) 2.5 in and use for a sander and another tool. Anytime you split, you knock down suction. Run too long of a collection system, and you chance inefficiency and your last collection bag will start to fill up. This is only 1.5 HP and thus, cannot be run like a 3 or 5 HP. I piped mine in using SR35 20 gauge pipe with a bell end on one side. That came in handy. I used a little heat and inserted the original 4x4 wye from the machine onto that end. That feeds my router table and sawStop. That run is all 6 inches. I did wye a 6x6x4 wye on another run that is now a 4 in run to a 4x4x4 wye to my jointer and planer. A DeW planer will easily shoot chips towards the collector due to the blower internally. The jointer (Jet) is doing fine and collecting everything. I do not use blast gates. I have the correct size flex hose, that original 20 ft I had, cut down for each machine, and simply quick connect each machine. I do have to cap the other run with just a $1.49 cap from WC. The remote is fine. But... I am on a 20 amp breaker and when I first use the remote in the morning, it will set off the breaker. Then reset and all works for the rest of the day. The initial draw on this unit is 50 amp. So do not be suprised if you trip a breaker from time to time, especially when colder out. Lastly, I did get the SR35 green 6 inch pipe directly onto the Jet unit without fuss and without taking off the foam tape from initial installation.
