GREAT BAG!! Even better w/ some modifications
This has been amazing and a life saver! It took me forever to figure out how to modify it the way I needed so while I don't do many reviews, I'm going deep on this one. I don't get paid for reviews and have no affiliations with any product links below. Just sharing what I did because other reviews gave me some good ideas to run with. I looked at lot of bags and I'm sure there are others that are just as good, but this one seems to be as advertised. I would highly recommend it and I would also recommend a few at home upgrades to make your traveling easier. I've taken it on two trips over 1,000 miles total on highways, bumpy roads, through winding mountains, and have had ZERO issues. I also didn't even notice it was there while driving...except for me constantly checking on it just in case. It only rained one day when it was parked and empty, but zero water came in. From what I can tell I don't see this not being able to withstand a severe storm as long as the rain isn't coming at you backwards from the ground and getting in the seam. The material is thick like a swimming pool liner and sewn together well. On the second trip (not pictured) we had the entire bag full, and every side was pushing out a little bit. The bag held up great and handled an insane amount of camping gear and suitcases. From what I can remember we had 1 extra-large suitcase, 3 check size suitcases, 3 backpacks, 5 camping chairs, 5 sleeping bags, random equipment, folding tables, and a lot of outdoor family games. Because we have captains chairs and use a third row in the vehicle there is almost zero trunk space so for 2 adults and 3 kids. I need this to last. Below are some ideas you might find helpful for long term use and travel. - I put in a PVC frame after looking at other reviews. Great idea!! Can't tell you how much easier it was to load, unload, and tie down. I also think anyone that has water getting in the bag is having that problem because the bag is folding over itself. It took a minute to build, and I did make it a tight fit. The vinyl has stretched ever so slightly after we jam packed it for two long hauls and now it's a little easier to zip up. - A friend just bought and used a roof bag for his family (different brand) on the trip we went on. I am so happy that I chose the hitch route. Even if I had to buy a hitch trailer for the bag vs. going with a rooftop bag I would. Their roof was caving in and packing and unpacking was horrible. A mother-in-law that was helping them fell and hurt herself, so if you go the roof route, pack a small ladder. - I did order the pad for a rooftop carrier and put it at the bottom of the bag under the PVC pipe frame. I was worried about something puncturing the bottom if the wrong gear was thrown in there haphazardly. - I also ordered and cut a rubber floor mat like you see in restaurant kitchens to go on top of the metal rack on the cargo hitch so the vinyl bag didn't rub against it and somehow tear. I highly suggest putting something between whatever bag you buy and the rack. Otherwise, every bump will slowly rub against your bag and eventually wear a hole in it. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073QMGDB8?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details - The straps work very well. It may take a second to figure out, but once you do they actually stay without issue. Not one came loose on either of the long hauls. HOWEVER, on the first trip I forgot to address the slack in the straps after cinching them so I quickly grabbed some binder clips and they held for a roundtrip 500-mile drive over 80 mph. I wasn't really happy with the look so I got some Velcro I could cut and use to cinch them on the next trip. They worked great. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B7XX9MBV?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details - And because it's always better to be safe than sorry, I purchased a lock I could thread through carrier rack and over the bag a few times. This ensures the bag doesn't go flying off the hitch if the straps ever do fail and is a decent deterrent for anyone looking to get in there while it's parked and you are in a store or restaurant. If someone wants to get in they can just cut it, but I think this definitely deters your standard person that would just take advantage of a random situation. I also know the bag isn't going anywhere when I'm driving and that is a piece of mind that makes the purchase worth it. Again, the straps haven't moved at all, but.... if they did for whatever reason this would be the safety net. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QYCLK28?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details - Didn't even bother with the combo lock because of above. It's your standard airport luggage style lock that you should use if it's all you have. Again, if they want in the bag.. any bag you find like this no matter the fabric, it can be cut into. - My particular, old, hitch carrier does not have any rails to cinch the straps on to. If yours is the same, then I suggest using these straps and putting them through the grate before you put on the rubber mat or the bag. I put the lower straps through them to cinch and voila. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N1NV536?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details - And lastly, when you go on a trip that isn't packing the bag full I recommend some bungees that can go from one side to the other and keep anything from bouncing around. I used these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08F73XDPM?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details - I am not collapsing this bag after use and instead am using it to store camping gear and other frequent travel items that are kind of a pain to store. For this purpose, I put two pieces of Velcro over the top section of the PVC so they can catch the outside of the bag and help it keep its shape even when it's not zipped up. All in all, I got the bag on a lightening deal and thought heck.. that was cheap. Then, I did all of the above and killed the "cheap" deal. However, I feel like I can get a lot of use out of this bag and if it ever does die on me the rest of the items are all transferrable to the new one. For the quality, the size, and the price, this is a good purchase you won't regret it. I've had several compliments wherever we go.

WATERPROOF, HEAVY-DUTY, EASY SET-UP
I bought this cargo carrier in June and waited till I had a couple of trips with it to review. I took 2 trips from Texas to Colorado for a total of 3200 miles and it worked perfectly!! We drove through several major rain storms and high winds with absolutely zero issues. The carrier remained waterproof with no damage noted. The straps that are included tied down securely to my roof rails but i also used 3 ratchet straps for extra security. But I feel the included straps would hold up just fine. Setting up the carrier was actually very easy and only took maybe 15 minutes to place on the car, load all the gear and strap down. the first time. With every other use my time was less and less. Once I secured the carrier to the roof it did not move AT ALL!! It did not slide or shift and the included grip mat held in place and caused no damage to my paint. I was able to stow a very large amount including luggage, crates, boxes and bags. This thing saved so much room inside my jeep. For the price this carrier is a solid purchase!!

Durable product with lots of space.
I was hesitant to purchase this bag as I had bought a travel bag in the past that was not waterproof and ended up ruining my luggage. But after traveling to and from the beach (approx 650 miles round trip) I am sold on this bag. We have a 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and this bag took up almost the entire roof. My only complaint is that the installation can be a bit time consuming and a struggle mostly due to the amount of straps and the way in which they tighten. Although, with that being said, the amount of straps (3 on each side and 2 in front and 2 in the back) this bag did not move an inch the entire trip. I was able to place a large suitcase, medium suit case, large duffel bag, boogie board, two children folding chairs, a 10ftx10ft folding canopy and a large beach tote in this bag and still honestly could have fit more as the bag had room to expand upward after zipping it all the way. This drastically saved us space in the van for stretching out and being comfortable. We did not encounter any rain (surprisingly) but I loaded this up the night before we left and that morning there was a lot of dew on the bag and when I unzipped it to place something else in it, there were no signs of water or any leaking inside the bag. The initial installation took me about an hour but this was me messing around and trying to figure the best way of configuring the roof luggage supports on our van. My second time installing it took me only 15-20 minutes. Pros - Durable material, large space, durable zipper, multiple straps allow it to be tightened all around, anti-slip mat really helps to hold it in place. Cons - Straps can be a pain to adjust and tighten (especially if they are wet), the zipper is tight and somewhat difficult to fully zip especially in the back (had to climb on top of van to reach it) If you are looking for a cheap and easy way to store A LOT of good, then this is the way to go!!

ROOMIEST DECISION I EVER MADE!
I just want to say that I have NOT been paid, offered money/reimbursement/discounts or gifted this item. I paid for this item and my review is my own without any influence. Now that that’s out of the way, if you are considering a soft rooftop storage solution and don’t want to commit to a hardtop, let this be the review you need! I took a vacation with my best friend and her 2 kids ages 7 & 9 and toddler age 1.5. The trip was about 15-17 hours each way due to distance and having to stop for multiple breaks for the kids…and if you have ever traveled with kids you know they want to bring all their favorite snacks, food, drinks, toys, blankies, iPads, gadgets, and well even room in a 7-8 person vehicle is still limited when you leave home for anything longer than 3-4 days with more than 4 people and we left for 12 days. I initially considered buying for a trip I have in late September, since I’m offering to be the carpool driver in my 7 person SUV and thought this trip would be a great test run for both quality and durability, as well as ease of use. I give this 5 stars hands down. It was a great purchase! I researched several brands, read countless reviews, examined the quality to the best of my ability and landed on this one. It was this or RoofPax and this one I do believe is far superior. Well packaged and easy to follow directions, I was able to get it setup and ready to go in 10 -15 mins the first time and then 5-10 mins the second time. It comes with a slip grip pad (same as the foam style anti-slip rug pad but with better grip) to put between your rooftop and bag. Great to keep from scratching the top and extra grip protection so it doesn’t slide around while in motion. It has several points of attachment with sturdy clips and additional attachment to accommodate vehicles without roof crossbars. The material is a nice heavy duty vinyl with a solid waterproof zipper that comes with “suitcase lock” setup for protection and a large overhang on the 3 sides with heavy duty velcro to cover and act as additional waterproofing for the zipper so nothing gets wets. As you can see from the photos, this SUV had crossbars but not side rails. It is setup to be used for side rails as best option due to the way the straps are attached to the bag. That said, I just turned it 90 degrees and decided that was how it was gonna have to be lol. Too late to worry and it was time to go! It worked flawlessly!! I purchased the 20 cubic feet and yeah… SO MUCH ROOM. Here’s the items I crammed into it only to realize I still had room for more: 2 medium 25-27 in luggage suitcases (these are one size down from the largest) 2 kids duffel bags 3 pillows (king size) 2 kids life vests 1 toddler life vest suit 1 toddler water inflatable A box of diapers A large telescope A couple blankets 2 carry bags of clothes from shopping on vacation And a few more small things that tucked in. Let me say we left with more than we started with and 90% was packed into this storage space and there was still room! Truly shocked by everything that fit in here! Seriously it’s worth the buy! Quality and durability is 5 stars as well We drove about 7 hours or so on the way back in several rainstorms of different intensities and intervals and nothing was wet when we arrived home. This is truly waterproof no matter what direction you have it, though it does have an intended directional for use. The straps are solid and didn’t stretch very much and I always checked them anyway time we stopped because I was paranoid about it not withstanding the wind speed and vibrations of driving but it didn’t flinch or break. On the way home I was able to not worry at all. I had complete faith in it! I’m a 34 year old single lady and I figured this out on the fly… literally unboxed in the driveway 30 mins before leaving and packed it myself while my friend wrangled the kids and last minute potty breaks. Having a friend or partner to help load and unload definitely helps but not required! Additionally, I saw the other brand I mentioned on several rooftops and mine not only looked way better, but those didn’t seem to be near as quality as this one and I’m glad I went with this brand!

Great cargo bag
I originally bought this carrier bag in 2024 while working in Oregon as a traveling healthcare worker. I was heading to Arizona in late December and had acquired too much stuff for cargo area of car. I also have a rooftop carrier (Maxxhaul bought from Amazon also). I was going to be driving 1400 miles in rain and snow so wanted something to protect my belongings other than just a tarp as a lot of stuff was just in boxes and miscellaneous bags. It was easy to use and I was able to get this spread out into the carrier and it held a lot. As an extra safety measure I used a couple of rachet straps over it also. I didn't notice a lot of noise but had windows up. It stayed in place and you can use it without the cargo carrier so versatile if you want to use it that way. I have used this bag on several long trips like this now and it is still in excellent shape. This last trip I was trying to travel light and didn't bring it with me, big mistake it wouldn't have taken up much space as it folds up into a carry bag, so I bought another to use for another 1200 mile trip that I am getting ready to make. I highly recommend this bag and suggest keeping in car for just in case.

A definite MUST for cargo csrriers
We finally got to take this bag for a spin and it is AWESOME! It was cold outside (MN winter), and there were different levels of precipitation, yet it held up great and was a perfect fit for our cargo carrier! I love that it came with a lock and the Velcro that goes over the zipper is super strong. Which might be a semi “complaint” because getting the bag open was a bit of a task! Ha the straps it came with were great too. This bag is a total game changer for the hitch cargo carrier game. So much easier to just throw in our gear than trying to pack into bins that can fit onto the carrier AND it keeps everything clean!

Good Value, Meets Expectations and Overall Objectives
First time use experience: This is a capable, relatively easy to use, and cost-effective solution for extra vehicle storage. I'm pleased with it and can recommend it. And I am not incentives in any way to make a positive review. As you can see atop this Subaru Forester, it basically doubles the non-passenger compartment storage volume at a relatively low cost. Compared to a hard shell cargo box where the same 15 cu. ft. is about $400 before taxes, this is less than $100 after taxes, is easy to mount and dismount, and collapses and comes with a bag for storing. Some things to note: 1) we used it to go skiing in cold weather. The material can become stiff in cold weather and makes it a bit harder to manipulate. 2) You'll surely want to mount it then fill it (doing otherwise would create a ton of work). You'll want a step ladder or stool. We packed a plastic step stool we use around the house to facilitate access while loading and on the road, but you are probably just as well off just standing on the tire and open car door sill. 3) This improved model has a zipper that goes fully around three sides (all but the front) which works well. The corners can be a bit tough to work past but you just need to manipulate the material and apply a bit of effort. I suspect in warm weather this would be easier. That said, our unit has a pinch point in the material at one of the corners as seen in the picture. Its workable but offered a bit of a challenge. 4) The straps are good but I wondered if there is a better solution to the adjustment of these. It took some work to get each of them to the appropriate length, and adjusting them when your loaded to make sure you have good tension on each was a bit of a challenge. Hint, roll up the extra length on the free end and jam it under where the strap goes under the roof rack bar and it wont come loose in the wind. 5) Instead of an internal frame that others mention, I used a flattened box (from some other Amazon order!) pushed up against the far side of the box and the front side to prop the internal space open for loading. Simple and lightweight. With those in place it loaded easy and I found I only needed them on two sides since once you start loading it, the unit takes shape. 6) We had no issues with wind noise, strap noise, or gas mileage. We did not get to test its waterproofness but I'm confident in that based on other reviews. Happy I found this unit. Enjoy!
