I was Skeptical, but It's pretty great "Instant Mochi"
I was really skeptical about this but I figured I'd give it a shot since I can't just buy it when I want it around here. Color me pleasantly surprised. I had to work through some image translating to work out how to cook them up - my japanese reading skills are pretty much zero. And trial and error resulted in an interesting rice cracker like result in the microwave - my fault completely. ( Of course, honestly... I tried it and with some kikkoman, it actually tasted pretty good. ) I've had fresh made and I've had frozen... and I love mochi. So after I worked out the kinks in prep, I have to say that these are pretty decent, even nuked up in a couple minutes with soy sauce... The taste and texture is pretty good - really not that far off from the frozen ones I've had. It isn't quite as good as fresh, but nothing compares to fresh. But it is definitely good and a worthwhile replacement for all the times when fresh is either not available, or you don't have the time to make it. Will definitely buy again

FRESH-tasting mochi!
I found this brand of mochi rice cakes to always be fresh & tasting the way it should after cooking them. The other brand I had previously bought began looking "old" when cooking (a difference in the way they cooked), & the flavor was on the stale side, as though in their warehouse or wherever a long time.

Perfect for a New Years celebration
We have not tried these rice cakes yet - saving for New Years. We have bought this item in the passed and we’re pleased with the quality.

Great value
I love these plain mochis and the amount you get for the price is a good deal. I really enjoy putting them in the air fryer with some sesame oil and ponsu sauce (and sometimes chili oil) for about 6 min. Afterwards, it creates this beautiful crispy outside and the inside is still the consistent mochi texture you would normally anticipate. The mochi really takes on the flavors so I think that makes this product versatile. I’ll even add some furikake on top before serving. I really enjoy that every piece is individually wrapped making it easy to separate and cook. This item will definitely be a repeat item I will be ordering.

Excellent kirimochi (remember to cook it). Would buy again
They last for a long time before being cooked. They cook perfectly (you can air fry them, boil them, etc). Absolutely no complaints. I would buy again.

Delicious after some research
If you’re like me, you probably didn’t read the package correctly before ordering. you received the bag thinking it was squishy sweet mochi, well surprise, it isn’t! Don’t knock it until you try it. If you can’t read the japanese on the back, open up google translate (japanese to english) and point your camera option at it. Google will do the work for you. I tried to microwave in a plate with water, turned to mush, really awkward to eat. I then looked up some videos on how to cook it, and the pan fry method is by far the best. Plus the sweet soy sauce trick was amazing. Price is a bit much but it’s nice to know it can sit in my pantry for a min without going bad. Will buy again!

Took me back to Tokyo
After living in Japan, if you know, you know. It’s comfort food in my house. Served with either kinako, nori and shoyu, mochi waffles for brunch, or deep fried with dashi, grated daikon and scallions, one of my kids favorites is cut into smaller sizes and deep fried and then served on top of udon noodle bowl, they love to hear the hot sizzle of the mochi touching the broth. Food is love and the silence of smiles and slurps lets me know they are receiving my heart. We make fresh mochi from time to time for holidays from whole brown sweet rice, but tbh I like this texture better. And don’t forget grilling. Plus this large bag is much better for the price. I’ve paid nearly this much for a mere 7 pieces. Now we can have it all the time
