Gentle on sensitive tummies — a solid choice for dogs with dietary needs!
After trying various dog foods over the years for our 10-year-old Labrador (who has both a sensitive stomach and a tendency toward itchy skin), I decided to give Burns Pet Nutrition Original Lamb and Brown Rice a go. After finishing the 12kg bag, here’s my honest and detailed experience. Digestibility & Health From day one, the difference was noticeable. Our dog, who often had loose stools and occasional gassy episodes with other brands (even some of the pricey ones), adapted to Burns seamlessly. His stools became firmer, more regular, and the smelly gas reduced significantly (a win for all of us in the house!). After about two weeks, his skin seemed less irritated, and the scratching and paw licking eased up a lot. I really appreciate that the formula is simple, with no unnecessary fillers, artificial additives, or complex ingredients — just wholesome, digestible goodness. 🐕 How my dog took to it I was a little worried about switching foods, as our dog can be fussy. But he tucked into Burns Lamb & Brown Rice without hesitation. I didn’t need to mix in wet food or toppers to tempt him — he happily munched on the kibble dry. One thing I noticed is that it’s not overly greasy or smelly like some other dog foods, which is a bonus for storage and handling. Packaging The 12kg bag is well-sealed and sturdy, and it keeps the kibble fresh over the weeks it takes to get through it. The resealable strip works well, but I transferred it to an airtight bin for easier scooping. Pros Hypoallergenic formula really seems to help with sensitive digestion and skin Simple, natural ingredients — no nasties Dogs seem to enjoy the taste — no food refusal Good kibble size for both larger and smaller dogs (our dog is medium-large) UK-made, ethical brand with a great reputation Cons It’s on the pricier side compared to supermarket brands (but worth it for the quality) The bag is large and bulky — fine for home use, but not easy to lug around if you’re short on storage space No ziplock-style closure — a small thing, but would be handy Final Thoughts If your dog suffers from digestive issues or itchy skin, Burns Original Lamb and Brown Rice is absolutely worth trying. It has made a real difference to our dog’s comfort and health, and I feel better knowing I’m feeding him something that’s both nutritious and gentle. Tip: Gradually introduce over 7–10 days to avoid any upset when switching foods.

Healthy Golden now thanks!
Great for my lab retriever who has IBD following HGE and now thriving! After months of trying to find a food that wouldn't irritate her tummy this Burns Brown fish and lamb had seen her turn a corner! Great for sensitive tummy!

Good quality feed, would recommend
Costs a bit more than many feeds but I would thoroughly recommend this product for its nutritional content. All the dogs I have fed this have kept lovely shiny coats and lived a good life without too much problems. If you stick to the weight control guidelines for portion control it will keep your dog at the desired weight, I can 100% vouch for that. It's clean and easy to use and ensures it's pretty solid when it comes out the other end. Like everything the cost has gradually increased but it is worth every penny.

Don’t waste your money on cheaper food!
Love Burns for my Cocker Spaniel. I’ve moved over to cheaper brands but always come back to Burns. My dog hasn’t got bored of it, and it keeps him regular. On cheaper food he has to go to the loo far often and is a bit messy!

Kind to sensitive stomach
I can’t tell you how many kibbles we’ve tried but this one seems to work for our old English Sheepdog with his sensitive stomach. We do have to add a bit of chicken to get him interested but on the flip side, he has smaller firmer poos now and no upset stomach.

My dog will eat it
Have been using burns for 20 years. Puppy through to senior. My current dog likes me to mix it with warm to make a hot dinner if she’s not in the mood for crunchy. No digestive issues. Not a lot of poo. Great teeth and fur.
