Lph400-144Lv Gun Only

I have been using the DeVilbiss starting line guns with decent success on base coats, but the clear was difficult to get right. After reading multiple reviews all over the place, I decided to upgrade. I was amazed at how easy this gun at low pressures could deliver so much clear coat. At about 27 pounds and 3 turns out on the flow, it laid out the clear with very little orange peel. It took a couple passes to get used to it, but it works really well. So best setup so far is high solids clear, 4 : 1 with hardener, 2.5 turns out on the feed, and a medium wide spray pattern....this is with the 1.4 mm that comes with the gun. Very light weight gun, too, easy to clean. Note that you will need a cup with a female tip.

First let it be known I am not a professional auto painter but I do spray a lot. Over the years my friends that do spray for a living have told me that this gun is the best on the market for spraying clear (this one with the silver cap). All of them use the 1.3 needle instead of the 1.4 that comes with this gun. Not knowing if this is a knock off I called one of my professional painters and asked if this gun was a knockoff. He said that it looked like the real deal but would not know until I got it in hand. So I ordered it along with the 1.3 needle (part number 93897600). After I received it and before I sprayed I took it to him to look at. After he compared it to his guns of the same type he said it looked and felt like the real deal and also of the green hologram on the gun that is not shown in the listing on amazon. He then said the real test would be to spray with it because he could here by the sound of the gun and by the fan spray if it is the real deal so we changed needles to the 1.3 and sprayed some clear. He then said that it was the real deal!!!! He set the gun up and told me to use between 20 and 22 pounds of pressure to spray at. Since then I have sprayed clear and wish I had bought this gun years ago. This gun with the 1.3 tip is very forgiving compared to my other guns that I used in the past. Now you have a lot of overspray but I will waste paint verses fixing screw up or sags. I will never use this gun for basecoat or anything else but clear. Bite the bullet and buy this gun if you want the best gun for clear!!!! You will not regret it!!! Plus my professional painters have used there guns like this one for almost 10 years without a issue. (Just clean as soon as you are done!!!!) Also even used they bring good money. Hope this review helps and trust that this is the real deal!!!! Jerry

This gun outperformed the gun I was going to use on my car called the Devilbiss FLG4. The devilbiss was used on clearcoat on Porches and it turned out fine. However, i had plenty of mistakes and I had to constantly adjust my technique being it was my first try. It seems as though the devilbiss did not atomize as well as this iwata gun. I am extremely pleased with this gun for that reason. Let me just say that on my very first try with this gun, after i did my settings, I sprayed perfect clear coat and perfect base coat with a 1.4mm tip. I literally jumped up and down (not recommended) in the paint booth in happiness. I would definitely own another one of these guns with the same tip size so I don't have to clean and mix again. Although this item came from Japan, 5 business days to get to me after i ordered it on a Sunday night. Which means it arrived at 7pm on Friday that week. I am extremely satisfied and I will definitely recommend this product to anyone painting their car the first time.

Dont post much but this gun was worth mentioning. Been commercially spraying furniture for over 20 years and have all the high end gun from Kremlin, Devilbiss and others. This gravity fed gun is top notch. Atomized pigmented lacquers with ease and fan pattern is wider than any that I have used. The finished product where we need a flawless low gloss sheen can easily be achieved with this gun. Highly reccomend this gun especially for the price.

Excellent Gun! Amazon almost always has the best prices on anything you buy ( which is why i got an Amazon credit card too) and this gun is no exception. This model is $100 or more anywhere else you look. So far i have used this for sealer, basecoat and clearcoat. Atomizes beautifully and its Extremely light. Probably the lightest gun on the market. I set the fan and fluid all the way open and it sprays wonderful. Highly recommend this gun to any beginner or expert!

Ran this gun for over 2 years now. Used it with everything from sealer, base, and clear. This gun sprays beautifully with everything. Zero complaints. Never needed a rebuild so far. Just recommend you always take apart the gun and clean it well.

The gun operates just as intended and is serving its purpose well! The only reason for the single star is because when I received the spray gun, there is a decent size chip by the nozzle. Usually it wouldn’t be a big deal but when you spend $600+ you would expect product to be in absolute mint condition.
