Kenwood eXcelon DMX957XR 6.8" Car Stereo Receiver w/ Apple CarPlay, Android Auto

I liked the very stable and painless Android Auto connectivity, high quality LDAC BT codec, and USB FLAC support.Does a decent job on the audio side with lots of customization for listening position, eq, and processing effects.Background is also customizable.The only very minor issue is that the user interface text color is NOT customizable, so when the background has white or very light colors, the text can blend into it, as it can be seen on my picture with a Pontiac emblem background.

My husband installed this in his truck and boy is it beautiful! It works great with his IPhone and the back up camera he just installed

Love it! Absolutely the best radio out there. Easy install with lots of research on YouTube for my vehicle. The touch screen with the exelon model is extremely responsive. I like that I can rearrange the apps. It has everything except hdmi out but I won’t be needing that. The excel on line up is the best.

The unit has great sound quality, but when having two iPhones it does not switch smoothly for wireless CarPlay. There is no way to tell it to switch phones, so you have to connect the other one using the cable and wait for it to ask to switch to that one. Then, when you disconnect the cable it does not automatically switch to wireless CarPlay. Instead, you have to powercycle the unit. This is a major nuisance as I have 2 phones and switch often.Note that there is no proper interface for a Mazda CX-9 or a 1st gen Porsche Cayenne. On the Mazda the dimmer doesn't work, and on the Cayenne the phone pick up and hang up buttons don't work on the steering wheel.

Great unit, makes audio system sound better via better connections, you can’t tilt the unit to your liking. Has up to 4 cameras, I wanted a front facing camera for off reading, it works great and the unit will work with existing backup cameras as well as steering wheel audio controls. Extremely happy with this unit.

5 Stars for the vendor that shipped the deck overnight they are great. But overall, there are a few things I find lacking in their high-end reference line.1. Trivial but I have this mounted in a 90s sports car with auto retracting antenna, this deck does not have the feature where it keeps the antenna in unless you use the radio. This is probably not a concern for many users with newer cars.2. Android Auto, I'm told, does not connect automatically so every time I get in the car, I have to poke the screen to start AA. For something that is 800+ new that is not good.3. Kenwood support sucks, takes forever on simple questions and you get one liner answers with no explaining.Will probably not buy another kenwood after this.

But from what I seen in the box and online it should be a great stereo

The GPS on this is not accurate and shows me 1 street over or literally driving in the middle of houses. The antenna has a clear line of site on top of the dash - kenwood support won’t help and keeps giving me excuses.
