Worth what I pay for it

I was able to achieve a razor sharp edge in about 15 minutes per chisel. Nice balance and a lighter weight than my western style chisels which I like for finicky work like dovetails. The shape of the blade feels really nice in the hand when choking up for precision work. Time will tell how they hold up but I don’t see any glaring issues. The ferrules on all 3 chisels are loose but that’s okay because I’m going to remove the finish which feels cheap. I’ll sand them smooth and apply paste wax with 1000 grit sandpaper. I do this to most of my wood handled tools and it makes them more pleasant to hold and to behold. I don’t think anything sold on Amazon deserves 5 stars so 4 stars is pretty good coming from me. Quite sharp out of the box, but I wanted them a bit better in sharpness, about 5 minutes work and I was happy with the sharpness, For me, they are an excellent chisel.

Bardzo dobrze wykonane dłuto. Przyjechało gotowe do pracy i ostre na razie nie musiałem dodatkowo ostrzyć. Jedynie co musiałem zrobić to poprawnie osadzić metalowy pierścień (katsura) na końcu rękojeści. Przed pierwszym użyciem należy pierścień osadzić na stałe na rękojeści - tego wymagają wszystkie dłuta japońskie. Po przygotowaniu prawidłowo katsury takie dłuto będzie przystosowane są do pobijania młotkiem metalowym. Dłuta SHINTARO są godne polecenia, jestem bardzo zadowolony.

This is the best thing I’ve ever used in my entire career in my woodworking. It’s sharp and smooth too using. And it’s the best tool ever.
